tranny question
tranny question
what amount of bearing does the computer have on the auto tranny in a 2000. tranny is on the verge of going out for the 2nd time and want to swap but don't know about the computer and swapping in a manual if it would stay running or just shut off. i seen it said about the NGC needing to be reflashed so what about the non NGC 2000? appreciate the help.

the 3 speed in a 00 isnt so much computer controlled as the 4 speed auto, if u are going to swap the tranny to a 5 speed, you will need a new pcm, under hood wire harness, mtx peddles .etc etc there is another post on here about the swap.

New PCM is not really needed, unless you want to rev higher.
IIRC, the ATX pcm only hits 6000 rpm. MTX 6750. R/T pcm about 60 more RPM. Maybe. Mine still cuts @6750.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

talk to screaming03neon, he got it wired for me so that if i remove the ground (or flip the switch) it thinks its in 3rd gear (the computer does) and can rev as high as i want. litterally as high as u want.

Just short the neutral saftey switch, or gear sense switch, so it thinks it is in gear. Also the reverse switch will need to be wired into the N/S switch wiring, as I believe it uses that on ATX's.
Now you may have to wire the N/S through the clutch switch, so it can't be started in gear. But the rev limit will still be 6000, or w/e the ATX limit is. So you are losing about 750 rpm on top. (Which will be more noticeable with a 60mm TB.)

wait... what?? so you have no rev limiter or fuel cut? I thought if you weren't using a MTX PCM then the limit would be ~6000, or you could get it reflashed and rev to 6750.DoubtedNeon wrote:talk to screaming03neon, he got it wired for me so that if i remove the ground (or flip the switch) it thinks its in 3rd gear (the computer does) and can rev as high as i want. litterally as high as u want.
