Lug Nut Color. Which one?

Post by darthroush » Sat Sep 19, 2009 1:29 am

OK, so after talking with OB yesterday, I'm going to get the wheels powdercoated a flat, almost satin black. Now here's where I'm stuck. What color lug nuts do I get? Chrome? Black? Black Chrome? Blue?

Geez Frank, being communist, I figured you would've went with red!

I guess it comes down to personal taste: Do you like your nuts to be balls out in your face, or kept hidden away, quietly doing their clamping duties.

people may be able to visualize different types if you posted a picture of your car in this thread.

Pics of the car can be found here: viewtopic.php?p=618531#618531

The only thing is with the blue ones I found, they are regular blue, not a dark blue like my car. They would probably be better on an E-Blue Neon.

The other thing is that since I am going with a flat/satin black wheel, I probably shouldn't go with a chrome/shiny lug nut set? ( I was tired when I started this thread. Makes more sense now that I am actually awake.)

your right, the shiny lugs would look confusing, since you have a flat black wheel with shiny lugnuts.

are you stuck for sure about blue/black?

red or gold might not be too bad.

+1 FTW

IMO Keep the color contrast simple. Simple can be very classy. It takes a lot of work to make multiple colors work well.

Thought about gold, but I'm not too big a fan of that. Thought about red too since I already have red bushings, but not sure that'd be too nice looking with black and blue. Beginning to thing black might just be best.

IMO Black is good. But it is your car after all, and if different color makes you happy then go for it!

With steelies I like the chrome or regular metal lugs, it adds a little spunk to those bland wheels. Napa has police style hubcaps that look sweet when you have chrome/metal lugs.

The thing is, the steelies are going to be going soon. Need lugnuts for the new wheels because the XXXXXXXL ones on there now won't fit...I think. Even if they would, they still need to go because the two front ones lost the covers so now they are basically two nuts amongst 8 regular ones on the front.

Anyone that spends $540 on a set of lug nuts is retarded.

You could get decent wheels that your stock lugs would fit on for $540.

That being said....black.
