why did the thread "PhillyLS1" get locked.. honestly what harm did it do? this is the off topic section so it was in the right section..
I have noticed a lot lately that the mods have been getting power boners. This is not the 2gn I knew back in the day... we broke off from neons.org because of the Nazi's they have over there. Now we're are becoming the same shit here.
what ever... this will probably get locked as well.

No I won't lock it, but I will move it to the feedback section.
If you want to tell someone they are awesome send them a PM. Not very hard.
No power boner here, I have all the power I need at work. Why would I give a shit about going all power trippy on an internet forum?

except the random posting thread is there to keep the OT section from clogging up with extreme randomness.

Really? I've noticed some old timers as well as some n00bs start thinking they can break the rules and then get pissed off when the mods do their job.neonpla wrote:I have noticed a lot lately that the mods have been getting power boners. It's related because it is the exact reason for the recent "power boner" you have experienced. People have started slacking on following the rules, so it's time to play clean up and weed out all the useless posts and useless posters. 2gn is about community, and a lot of members have been taking advantage of our laid back approach. There is a reason why most forums don't put up with bs.neonpla wrote:what are you even talking about dude? the thread i'm talking about was not breaking any rules.GreeNeons03 wrote:Really? I'm not on anyone's side on this one, I haven't even seen this thread. Those of you who have a problem with the staff or our rules are more than welcome to PM any one of us.

Luis, level with me. Go open the Off Topic section and look at the locked threads from the last few days. You mean to say that you think these are acceptable threads? We should let people have mini inside conversations whenever they want? OT or not, there are rules that need not be written. It's common sense not to start useless/joke threads that serve the community no purpose whatsoever. Go start an AIM convo, send a text message, make a phone call, send a PM, or POST IN THE RANDOM POSTINGS SECTION. The forum is not a place for personal conversations. End of story.
EDIT: I understand how you feel, but you need to look at it from our point of view. We have to keep things organized around here.

Offtopic sections usually always go to hell. I am curious how the offtopic section would turn out if no mods locked any of the threads.
Some threads would become epic. Specially the Bill Kaulitz and sxtgrl threads hahaha
Offtopic = time lapsing entertainment in my eyes.
Some of the threads that got locked I totally agree on getting locked though.

While I don't disagree with telling someone they are awesome, or the like, you have to understand where we are coming from on this one.
One of those posts turned into four in very short order. After the first few 'topic-relavent' posts they just seemed to turn into random posting anyway, so why not start them there in the first place. In the end they are clogging up the off-topic area with total randomness and private conversations. I simply don't see that doing any good for the community.
There are plenty of other methods for private conversations...AIM, FB, MS, etc. Locking those threads is not unlike telling people who are 'fighting' amongst the threads to take it to PM.
I don't think anyone can honestly say the staff is strict on here, I mean, come on? We let a lot of stuff fly. I like to have a good time just like the rest of you, but we have to draw the line with some things for the betterment of the community.

I'm not a 'forum rulebreaker'. I just don't understand the problem with that first thread. It's not an 'inside conversation'. Anyone could have posted there stating that Philly made them laugh, or that he didn't and he's a humongous gaylord. I don't think his feelings would have been too hurt.
Off-topic is off-topic. I just didn't realize THAT section would be so restricted. I get the need to clean up the forums in general though.

^It really isn't any one thread that is being targeted here. The way I see it, if we let one random thread slide, it would not be fair to lock the next one. So threads that are in the "gray area", i.e. close to being lockable but still acceptable, have to be locked to set an example. If you feed a mouse a cookie....

I know i'm new here. But I in a way totally agree with OB on this. In this I mean his idea. If were gonna (that i mean the whole "community" of mods, admins, etc) should start to maybe take a little bit of a less laid back mindset. That if something is getting borderline maybe a warning then a full lock of thread and if it starts out to be against the preset topics rules (don't care which topic) it needs to be locked and then we can all as user and mods/admins be able to truly say "this is the line in the sand" don't cross. End of discussion".
Aswell I know that there are a few mods/admins on here. It's not easy to do your job and some wouldn't want too. But the fact that there is sometimes just one appointed mod to a topic board isnn't the right way either (IMO) maybe we need to get more mods on each topic. And I mean people that are on here at least once a day and have the true time to perform the tasks required...I think that also would help in the whole situation of keeping rules adheard too and people staying happy and topics boards not getting "clogged up"
And maybe...delete really old stuff from off topic and others to keep it from getting "clogged" with threads...
again all this is just my opinion and know i'm new and probably won't be listened to on this.

Just wanted to clarify a little on this topic. While moderators are listed as specific to a certain section, we are all actually able to moderate nearly the whole board. We just have our main sections that we 'focus' on, but if you keep an eye out you will see all of us working in most of the areas as far as the modding duties go.RADARsx 2.0 wrote:

Honestly, a lot of the treads recently have seemed pointless.. like it could have went into the "random topic thread" IMO
Most of them also are media that gets put in the “off topic” and not “off topic media” area as well..
Just my .02 cents.

Totally understand that..and again i'm not trying to piss anyone off here. But if we dont' have people who aren't made to focus on something then stuff gets missed. I know that this is suppose to be an easy going place. But if you or me or who ever it is. Is a Mod and can mod anywhere there is a chance that they miss what they are lotted to do. I'm just saying that maybe we have the mods we do do what they are doing but a few other that are only focused on lets say "off topic" and they are there to just keep it in line and the rules are adheard too in there and only there.hul kogan wrote:Just wanted to clarify a little on this topic. It to me is what i seen in the military and what we do at our firestation and it works perfectly. Someone is tasked to one thing and the quality of that thing is awesome cause they are thinnned out with other things...
Again my opinion and I am not trying to piss anyone off and I know your job is time consuming as a mod. but to a point the mods must understand that general users don't know what they do causes problems...and yes users should try to understand that mods are made busy will silly posts.
So lock them if they are outside of the rules and then in short order people will understand and tow the line..

There was nothing wrong with those threads. There was nothing off color, racist, sexist or offensive in those threads.
Apparently community only counts when a mod includes you in said "community."
Either that or they're paying by the thread.
Apparently mod means you get to pick and choose what people enjoy. Off topic doesn't mean off topic.

What I don't understand is this..Right now we've had at least 3 mods pipe in on this thread...but there has been at least 3 threads that I know of that could technically have been locked or what not and yet were still seeing them open and others were locked and they were no better actually a little better than at least one that is still open and it could be deemed easily as "useless" "cloggin" of off topic..So i am gonna piss mods off and say

I really don't see many problems with the O/T section being O/T, thats what its there for. I am sure someone could have found one of Philly's (multiple) semi active threads and posted how awesome he is (or isn't) in there.
Then again, as long as you f*ckers stay away from my media sections, I will continue to <3 all of yoo...
