Moved from Mississippi to Nebraska and the summer only tires aren't going to cut it in the very near future. I have been running Kumho Ecsta SPT 205/55 on 15" Rota slipstreams and have been pretty happy.

I am looking at the BFG supersport all seasons and the Kumho Ecsta ASX... I have read the tire rack tests and reviews about 9 million times as well as read thru the reviews over on discount tire.

Just wondering if anybody had any input before I dropped some coin.

Only problem for you is that I don't think they make it in 205/55/15, but it's been a while since I looked.

I had a set on my neon with 50k on it that had some sidewall cracking issues, but Yokohama has a 4 year warranty to cover that. So I got $250 towards the purchase of a new set of Yokohamas based on the amount of tread left. I would have easily hit 80k on them, and possibly gone to 90k miles. The tires are cheap, they bite and they last.

I just put a set on my work car (Prius). My boss told me not to get cheap/junk tires and that Michelins were ok. And I went with these, $99.99/ea on the rim and out the door. A set will be going on my wife's Caliber when her tires wear out.

yeah, no TRZ...but tirerack has the Yoko Avid T4 and Goodyear Eagle GT-HR as well as the other 2 I mentioned. I have thought about the Falken 512 or 912 as well, but it seems that people either love those or they hate them, with no inbetween.

Yokohama 520 is a very good tire.

The Kumho ASX is a decent tire too.

For the $, get a set of tires mounted on steelies shipped to your door. At least when I was shopping a few years ago for Jeep tires, the price was very reasonable. Almost as cheap as just buying the tires local. Winter dedicated tires FTW!

This is only recommended if you have somewhere to store them.

The upside is your tires last a lot longer, only running them when needed. I usually need to replace from dry rot/age than treadwear. At least the winter tires.

The kumhos are probably the best deal for 15" wheels. They perform quite well for all season tires and the treadwear is pretty high. If you get the 50 series it's even cheaper.

I still have my stock rims I could mount winters or all seasons on and then put summer only on my Slipstreams. I want to see how all seasons perform and if they are adequate for my needs, I will run them year round...if not, I guess I will be running dedicated summer and winter sets.

For those that run dedicated summer and winter sets, do you go with all seasons for the winter or dedicated snow/winter tires?

I had no issues with the 512, 912, 452, and 329's from falken. I liked them all. The 452's lasted the longest, the 512's gripped the hardest but didn't last very long, the 329's were the cheapest, but still pretty good. I've had the 329's on my 98 since Jan 08, and I've put 20K very hard miles on them. They do not like burnouts, but are decent.

If you are going to have a dedicate winter set, I would get snow tires. Why limit yourself when you aren't trying to have an all around tire?

Good year Eagle F1. They are bit pricey but they are amazing in all weather condition.

I got set of srt4 rims with those tires all for 300$

I wouldn't worry about snow tires in Nebraska. It doesn't get neary as deep or as icy as this area. It more of a wind/blizzard issue.

I lived in Nebraska for 3 years btw.

The BFG are on sale right now on tire rack so I think that is what I am going with...I'll let you know how it goes after I get a chance to thrash them...

I just got the 205/50/15 BFG SS A/S slapped on the Rotas today...and that is a story in and of itself.

Jensen tire wanted $120 to mount and balance 4 tires and toss the old ones.

The Car Care center on base wanted $80 but couldn't do it for another 2 weeks.

TiresPlus is not allowed to install owner tires (only tires you purchase from them)

Walmart wanted $34 to do all 4. I showed them my flat black Rotas to make sure they could do it without trashing them and they said "no problem"... 2 friggin hours later, my car comes off the lift and I go out to check out the hand work and they gouged the shit out of one of them (on top, not on the face) so I showed the manager and he is going to mount the tires on the van for 1/2 price.... I just need to smooth it out with some sandpaper and hit it with a black Sharpie and all is well. It just pisses me off that they said they could do it, and then they effed em up and didn't man up and tell me.

Oh and somebody either likes my rims or doesn't like my exhaust cause 2 of my locking lug nuts were missing off the passanger side rear tire. The other 3 were on nice and tight, so now I need to go order some new lug nuts....

Yeah the guys at wall-mart apparently didnt set the machine up correctly to prevent scratching. Most modern mounting machines can be set up so that the duckhead (plastic part that forces the bead over the wheel) can be set up for a "no touch" mounting and dismounting. But this takes all of 3 seconds to adjust so why would they have the time or effort to do this?

Also since you are missing a few lug nuts, check the torque on the rest of them. Its 100ftlbs and you wouldnt want the wheel falling off.

I hope your using aftermarket lugs and not the stock ones....

yeah I had a set of the Muteki locking lugs on there and 2 were off the same wheel but the other 3 were tight....they put 2 of the stock lugs on to replace the 2 that somebody took...but I have a new set of lugs on the way.

I sanded the rim down and just need to hit it with a black sharpie and all should be well. It is snowing today so get to test drive the new all seasons in the snow and slick...but I am not going to try and find their limits!

Yeah, I prefer not to use walmart myself...but $34 as opposed to $80 and waiting 2+ weeks, or $120 at a different place.

I let walmart put my tires on for the same reason, you can't beat that price. I have steelies so there wasn't much they could do to the wheels. However, they did cross thread 2 of my lug nuts so I had to replace the studs.

I wouldn't let anyone at China-Mart wash my hubcaps, never mind approaching any of my vehicles with a tool.

Just remember, you get what you pay for. You should find a local garage that is trustworthy to do the stuff you can't/don't want to do yourself. They may charge more $ than wally-mart, but you'll be getting professional service and peace of mind.

I think it's the quality of the workers and not so much walmart as a whole. Discount tire is just as bad, I'll never do business with them again.

I go to walmart, but trust the guys back there... because they know me, and know I'll give it to them if they screw up my car. I also work there. I've never had a problem from them, and the one guy actually saved me. My brakes were metal on metal and I thought dirt or something got up in them. It was winter, and there was a lot of sand on the road. Why? Because I just had my inspection done, and if my brakes were THAT bad, I would not have passed, or would have been told they needed to be done ASAP.

You should look into an NTB, or Merchants tire, places like that, they charged me $20 to install 2 tires on wheels, and didn't scratch my wheels, both with my 205/50/15 and 225/50/15 tires on my 7 spokes.
