automotive paint school
after tinkerin with my interior pieces and givin it some thought i think i would like to learn how to prep and paint professionally. anybody know any schools in florida besides wyotech that offer a automotive painting/ collision repair program. (checked the wyotech site and the one in daytona seems to only be motorcycle and marine based).

Wyotech is a terrible school from what I have been told. I had a dude in my class that went to wyotech for a year for body and collision. Didn't know a damn thing.

I went to LTI (which is like UTI and Wyo) and it was total BS.. Teachers were smart but they wanted to be more of your friend than your teacher..

from my own observations and what ive heard, UTI and Wyotech just show and tell u the basics. After that its on u wat tricks and knowledge u figure out for urself.
Thats why i try to learn what i can however i can.
I wanted to go to wyotech, i was enrolled and everything. I dint graduate and im kinda glad i dint go.

I disagree. Spending a few years in a shop, learning from the older techs and obtaining ASE's in the process is the best method IMO.Hudson_Neon wrote:no, you won't go very far without a degree... tech school is the way to go. they're not 100% focused on monet like wyotech and utidarthroush wrote:Sounds like apprentice work in a real shop is the best bet?
My diploma from Wyotech means nothing now compared to the experience I have now and the ASE's I've gained.
Experience and certification are your best bets in getting ahead. I say got onto a shop as a lube guy, and take in as much info from the other tech as possible. Depending on where you work, they will also pay for your ASE's as well. My 4 years in the field and ASE's mean way more than a silly Diploma from a school I'm gonna be paying off until I'm 47.
I am awesome.Automatic wrote:Go fuck yourself Danny boy.
