how often do these go bad?

Post by ratchet » Thu Oct 01, 2009 4:35 pm

I got my 2nd neon last year, fogs never seemed to work right and the cluster lights never seemed bright. So before I took it to get inspected yesterday I wanted to figure it out. Pulled off the plastics on the colum and saw this connected to my MFS switch. Just wondering how many people had this go bad on them, cause DAMN, when I fixed it, everything works like a charm. This a common problem?

sadly its actually quite common for these to melt. I've seen smoke coming from my hazard button before.

yeah it's a common thing.. i think mopar actually had a 'kit' from the dealer.

Or you could run to the junkyard and grab one from a neon that has/had fogs and solder the whole thing back together.

Thats exactly what I did, but the first time it was from an 03, which had different wiring, so went back and got an 01, which worked. Harrys in Pennsburg has helped me out ALOT, there are alot of 2gn neons there now

Happened to a lot of people. Happened to me. I went and got a new multifunction switch, as the harness wasn't melted completely.

i remember someone on the forum creating a write up on the replacement from Mopar, but havent looked recently. Wonder if its just the neons with fogs.

funny, you caught me off guard, I had no time to react lol. So since you were at Harrys you say the 2 silver 03's. The one had some kinda purple wire hooked up to the engine, didnt look closely, but im sure it was for an amp or something, but I did manage to grap the 6 disc changer that was in the car :D
