You could say the same about the waterpump, too. But I wouldn't recommend leaving it in.
I wouldn't say the oil pump is as critical/prone to failure, but it is more of, since you went through the trouble, and expense (if you don't do your own work) of having the engine torn down to that point, if you have the extra $ putting a new pump in is good insurance. And if you have a shop do the work, the labor savings of not doing it over, will pay for the pump.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

Mine's coming up on 104k and burns oil like a mofo.Forest Green 2k wrote:The only thing aggravating me now is that it's burning oil quite fast, I don't see any leaks though.
Also, recently, when I floor it for a little, the rpms will shoot up about 1g and the car will quickly go up about 10 mphs in a fraction of a second, then the rpms drop down to where they were, even though I'm still flooring it.
I have never had any major problems with the Neon, but damn these cars act weird sometimes as they age.

Damn, that sucks. Besides some minor stuff my, 2000 has never acted weird mechanically or left me stranded... yet <3 . I just got a feeling the engine is gonna have to be torn apart again to fix the oil burning issue so I don't have to carry some in the car incase of an emergency, lol.UriahRR wrote:Mine's coming up on 104k and burns oil like a mofo.Forest Green 2k wrote:The only thing aggravating me now is that it's burning oil quite fast, I don't see any leaks though.

Are you sure it's not just dumping it into the intake manifold?
