Help Trans cooler.

Ok so I have this issue. The low pressure side connector going from my radiator to my transmission came out. Not sure how it came out or why it came out. The hole looks good, my connector looks good other then this rusted washer between the alumin connector.

Car is 2001 neon ES right around 200K just had water pump and timing belt changed last month for second time. Fuild changed in last 30K fuild color good. What the hell could have caused it, can I just put the connector back in with lock thread and just check it or should I replace the radiator as well? All other fuilds are good I had no other fuilds mixed with the trans fuilded.

Yeah I've been busy as hell and not much time for anything. An yeah its interresting alright. I'm thinking of just putting in a sperate cooller and be done with it.

That would probably be the easiest thing to do. I don't think I have even seen that happen.

Just pick up the smallest one available, probably no more than $20 and pick up some new hose to go from the trans to the cooler.

I think that is the best option. Given the track record of internal coolers on here lately.

Yeah I'm going to go to a pick and pull and grab one and just put on and exteral cause whats really got me is what caused it to come off? An without solving that I don't feel good about reconnecting it.

But I bought the car brand new with 6 miles on it in 01. I have 197,000 miles I still get 32 mpg. I've spent $1,100 on timing belts and tansmissions $500 in tires, $550 for 2 rear struts and a wheel bearings. $150 in brakes over the past nine years. Not counting all the fuild changes. And 3 battiers.

I can't really complain she's a good car.

I'd prefer a new external cooler. You can get them at Autozone, Kunkels, Advance Auto, Salvos, etc.

Yeah now the question is were to put it for proper airflow and what size should I get?

You dont need a ton airflow.

You can always do what I did (when I had the auto) and fasten it to the front of the radiator. Some coolers even come with special zip tie-ish connectors just for that purpose.

Yeah I'm seeing those types and with the drives I take I may end up doing that cause of the stop and go traffic.

I've earned my my CPP certification for work (certified parking professional) this past week. I'm hoping to start my LEED cert training next month. I had a scare with my heart few months back but I'm ok.

Testing for my purple belt in kenpo next week hoping to find something part time after I earn it as bouncer or even a bail bondsmen to help ends meet. Cause it looks like I my need a car sooner then later.

And with any luck I will be debt free come the first of the year.

All this means I've had little time( or money) for my car or to do things to it.

cheapest I found for a small trans cooler, just stopping by the local/national chain auto parts stores was $23.99 at Advance Auto Parts... did come with the mounts to just attach to the front of the regular rad.... seems to me any position on the front of it would be fine and a heck of alot better than the

y metal tube that is inside the radiator they use as a stock cooler

Well I bought a aftermarket from pepboys and hooked it up refilled the trans ran it checked for leaks. Good

Ran it around DC a couple of times to make sure it hold and wasn't burning the fuilded. Working like a champ.

Got her home today and anit-freeze just pour out of one of the holes.

So now I'm waiting for my dad to come over so we can plug the old trans lines and fill it with fuild again. So I can get back to work tomorrow and pick up the work truck and let the car sit the new radititor comes in.

Pain in the ass.

I imagine you'd only need to plug those tubes if you had a leak?
