It shouldn't if your wheel well is still there? I never had a problem.

take a pic of that filter after you drive around in the rain for a bit

no inner fender = poor filter life.

w3rd. You should definitely revert back to stock air filter system if you don't have a wheel well.

in a nutshell..yes thats what we are telling you.

go to a junkyard ASAP

and yes a wheel well is a wheel well, regardless of if you have a body kit or not

you need one not so much so the filter wont rub, but to mainly keep the elements away from the filter, and to keep from destroying your car.... that tires spinnin all kinds of crap at it.. you can adjust the intake so it doesnt rub.. bend the battery bracket to adjust.. or make another bracket to bolt to one of the airbox bolts to hold it where you want it..

but get the fenderwell plastic.. or at the very least, take the resonator box you removed and hollow it out and reinstall it as a makeshift fenderguard till you can find one..

you could switch the filter to one of those HKS mushroom filters to save a lot of length without shortenning the tube, but yeah you probably want your splash guard, if nothing else so assholes cant steal your filter lol

Same problem

Post by ImportKiller » Thu Oct 13, 2005 6:30 pm

I have the exact same problem,, my intake rubs on my tires when i turn also,. my car is really low and I am running a 215-45-17 tire,.. I was going to try going with a 205-40-17 tire to see if it solved the problem, but havent, I have also been thinking about extending the pipe where the filter sits, with a piece of pipe and another coupler, thats all i know!

 How do these people NOT hydrolock their engines? I've been concerned having the intake AND still having wheel wells? Does it not rain where you guys live?! I guess I'm worried for nothing if these people have been okay. :)

hydrolock would only happen if you submerge the filter in water that is hod we do not hydrolock the motors. to submerge the filter you would have drive in a puddle of water deep enuff to come in at the bottem of your doors

im hesitant about driving mine in the rain, but i odnt drive that far, esp during the week. my work is 2 minutes away from my house, some days i could WALK to work faster than i could get there in a car

advantages to living in a smaller city i suppose :)

everytime it rains here the roads flood all over the place.. (south florida) doesnt have to be as deep as your doors, you just have to hit it fast enough, and that shit sneaks up on you especially at night... who was it, blackrose i think hydrolocked with a warm air intake of all things, with the filter under the hood..

i'll never argue an intake being good or bad.. but its not worth the worry where i live.....

I also have 17x7 rims, i think the stock snowflakes are a 15x6 and I think that the SRT rims are a 17x6 therefore there is that extra inch depth to get a little closer to that filter.

and whatcha mean no inner fenders? it comes right through that little hole and you remove the air box..... mine still has the inner fender intact......... but yes Hydrolock scares me to death, I am real close to buying that AEM valve to prevent it
