buying photoshop
buying photoshop
Dont know if there was ever a thread about this but...
I'm looking to buy photoshop for myself, now i'm not real familiar with the different versions, and i want to know what will work best for me. I plan on just using this for my personal use, no business/marketing or anything. I want to know the capabilities as well or what it cant do. my computer can handle pretty much anything so that is not an issue either. Let me know so i can make a better educated decision as to what to get. thanks

I'm thinking any edition will work if it's only for personal use. I have been using CS2 for a long time for both school projects and personal stuffs and everything runs pretty smooth. I don't feel there's anything missing because there are still a lot of functions I haven't used. However the newest one is CS4 now. Maybe get the newest one will be the better idea.

I got the CS3 Suite with everything. Love it! I use Photoshop and Flash a lot. I'm starting to learn how to use After Effects with my videos.

You can get CS4 Portable. It's a lightweight program you can run off a jump drive. It does all the little stuff most people who need a photo editing program. It's obviously not the full version. I am a graphic designer and I don't use PS to it's full abilities. It's an extensive program and would take a lot of working with it to learn it's full abilities. There are tons of tutorials and such online for showing you how to do graphics and text effects. It's a great tool to use with Illustrator as well.
