YAY! Yeah, he said he was going to PA. Meet up with him, or at least take a picture! :-D

In other progress news:

Finally got my front brakes repaired. As most of you know I had one hell of a time trying to work on them because of how over-torqued the bolts were and how under-prepared I was. But they're done and now the car drives like an absolute dream. :-)

I have an update? Well, kinda...

I FINALLY fixed my headlight ballast issue tonight. A couple months ago, the passenger-side ballast completely died. Sadly, I couldn't buy the ballast just right off because Audi wanted $450 new! So I just left it.

A few months, many 'dipped headlight' warning icons, and 3 police warnings later, I finally found out that the Chrysler 300M shares the same ballast as the 2003 A4. I also found out that Chrysler was selling the ballast for only $97!!!! So I obviously had one shipped right to me:

Image

BUT after 45 minutes of trying to get the headlight out (yeah, yeah, yeah, this aint no neon) I found out some bad news. This was MY ballast:

Image

Looks like the previous owner replaced the 2003 ballast with the older 2002 ballasts. :-| That made it slightly more difficult since all the Audi people were telling me I'd need to buy a new 4-port connector to replace the 12-port. But, having Neon-owner blood flowing through my veins I wasn't gonna just cop out. I decided to jurry-rig the shit outta the 12-port to make it work.

Now, obviously the 12-port won't work directly with the 4-port ballast, but they still, for some odd reason, still share the same 2 power wires. So why can't I just modify the 12-port to fit? ;-)

The 12-port:

Image

It's too big! (That's what she said):

Image

Pull the 2 wires out (Still think 12 ports for 2 wires is overkill):

Image

Saw that bitch in two!:

Image

After replugging the wires back into the now-4-port connector and getting everything all hooked up I ran outside praying, hoping, wishing, and it looks like someone was looking down on me:

Image

Neon jurry-rigging powers worked!

Thats for sure. Working on the german cars is a whole different ball game.

When you work on the neon it seems like chrysler wanted you to be pissed, but atleast you got the job done. When you work on something German you just scratch your head for a while and wonder why lol.

I've been asking why for the past few months with my BMW. Fuses replaced, ICV is clean as a whistle, all the vacuum leaks sealed, and I'm prepping to replace the fuel pump.

One piece at a time with these auto-puzzles!

Nice man! So the trick to owning German cars is to own a Neon first. Got it
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

It's really a Neon with a Razzi kit.

In other news, I got paid today!

I would totally go blow it on coilovers RIGHT NOW, but alas, if I did that I wouldn't have enough money for the R.I. meet in February. :-( So instead, I'm calling up my junkyard buddy today to hopefully get a hold of that USP front valance.

Yeah, it comes on the 'Ultrasport' package for the A4.

Stock A4 lower valance:

Ultrasport A4 lower valance:

I think it just makes it look a little more aggressive and flows a little better with a good drop.

I'm probably not going to paint match it right now, since my car has the 'lowers' the gray trim color, it would seem out of place to have it be blue while the rest of the lowers are gray.

I think you mean the headlight ambers? The USP's come with the ambers, just not in that picture. It's part of the 'Joey Mod' I MIGHT be 'Joey Mod'ing my headlights soon (take out ambers and paint chrome strips black) but that's all kind of up in the air right now.
