Since he's the only active user who almost promotes white wheels, yes that's who I was referring to. Oh, and lol @ neongod.neonslg09 wrote:Didn't know we were talking about Anthony here... That statement is true. If you're legumping Anthony's wheels, it's ONLY because they are a rare Works color, not because they are an amazing looking wheel.neonslg09 wrote: that's a joke.
OP... Looks great dude! Find someone local that you know, Ma & Pop shop that'll squirt that front for cheap. I got quotes for ~$100 for a bumper and lip...and paid less! It's gonna look GREAT done. Your color FTW.
Andrew - I'm glad you have that mindset to get the right wheels, at their respective cost, and because they are ones YOU like. I made the mistake of getting reps or cheap wheels just to have aftermarket wheels. Wait for the ones you like. Stock > cheap wheels. Nothing wrong with your wheels in my book. Hell, I still rock OEM wheels
As for paint, $160 seems fairly reasonable for an entire lip kit, assuming you dropped them off and they did EVERYTHING. Sucks about your area markup. I'd say start to haggle or start learning to paint
Looks great though. Can't wait to see you get finished up. (Get those mirrors done too!)

Car looks great Andrew. When do you plan on getting the front end painted?

Other than the paint, I just need new rims (and I'm getting a set that I want, no knock-offs or cheap brands), coilovers (so I can even the drop and have the ability to adjust), and of course turbo... but that'll be way later in the game lol.
That blending thing sounds like BS to me. I'm no expert, but my body guy never once mentioned anything about blending over the several times he's painted stuff for me, and my front bumper/lip/eyelids is 100% color matched to the body.2005.Neon.SXT wrote:Thanks manhul kogan wrote:QFT.LilSparkPlug wrote:$160 is way more than reasonable for a front/rear lip kit along with side skirts.
Car looks great Andrew. When do you plan on getting the front end painted?Whenever I can find the time to save enough for paint. Like I said, I think on the first page, the shop quoted me $350 ish for the front bumper, the lip, and to blend the paint into the hood and fender (never really heard of such things, but it sounds legit... what do you think LSP?).

I was also told this same thing about blending when I first went around town and got quotes before I knew about the rustoleum technique. So I thought it was a normal thing with shops. Even Maaco said the same thing.glasswars wrote:That blending thing sounds like BS to me. idk, we'd have to get LSP, kornholio, teej, or others to pitch in.

^^^^ she is right, if they match your color good enough you wont notice, hell the factory bumpers on most cars don't even match the body 100%, i know mine don't

That's what I did though. When he told me that price, I was likeLilSparkPlug wrote:Blending is recommended, however if the shop doesn't blend it properly you'll end up with a very harsh line in the middle of the blended panel. Simply tell them you don't want it blended and ask for a price just to paint the bumper and lip your color.

I like that answerLilSparkPlug wrote:If he demands to blend it he's simply trying to pork you for more money. Find another shop nearby that will paint just the bumper and lip. I've never heard of such an absurd rule. Blending is iffy as hell if a subpar painter does it.
Figure of speech...
And I wouldn't mind driving around with no front bumper, like this yellow Cobalt SS around here, but with all the wires I have from my projectors and HID kit, someone is bound to "Oh, wires... *snip* woops *walks away*". Guarantee. So honestly, I'll keep the bumper on the car. lol. Thanks though
and everyone copied tiol and myztikal so let's not start anything about copy cats, lol.Tam wrote:You should at least get some different rims and paint before you submit to the calender.

I would. And most shops should be able to get it done within a day or two. You don't have your other bumper laying around?2005.Neon.SXT wrote:I like that answerLilSparkPlug wrote:If he demands to blend it he's simply trying to pork you for more money. My opinion is that you get what you pay for and a shop that stands up to uphold it's values is really a shop worth going to. Blending is a good idea so that your car does not look like it has 4 different shades of paint and leads to a very clean looking car.

kudos to you neonp[la, for giving the true copying credits to the OG's of Honda lips on Neons. even if you have them in incorrect order. sean (mztykal) did it first.neonpla wrote:and everyone copied tiol and myztikal so let's not start anything about copy cats, lol.Tam wrote:You should at least get some different rims and paint before you submit to the calender.
