ok, im ansy
i pulled my headliner out today, cause i bought the material today, i foudn a 40% coupon on the front of the add good for all week... im peelin the original material off okish, small parts of the backing are coming up also, but im gluing them back in place as soon as one might pop up to be safe
my question is... how the F**K to you get the visors to come apart??? ive been jabin at the seam like thing tryin to seperate it for like an hour now... and nothin...
*EDIT* - ok so... i figured it out last night by reading the 1st page of this thread
so.. heres the update... i was puttin on the new material gluin i down when my mom calls my phone... i had the phone in my pocket on vibrate and forgot about it... so it scared the shit outta me cause i was outside at 9 at night... and i ended up spraying glue on the material... all over the black... so it was ruined... tried everything to salvage it... acetone, alchohol... soap + water... no luck... so i told my mom and she gave me $30 to go buy more material and glue
so tonight when i get back home at like 11pm... im going to go recut and glue the new piece down and pull the tan plastic parts out to paint tomorrow... Duplicolor makes a nice paint that i swear is a damn near perfect match to the color of the black in the car... its their Vinyl/Interior spray paint... looks really nice and has the same finish as the rest of the stuff in the car so it will look damn near stock
as for the visors...looks like it might be a no-go on the logo... since the fabric isnt glued down it will just make a bulge other problem im having is trying to tuck the material for the mirrors... since theres no "teeth" to grab the mat, it doesnt want to stay... i MIGHT try and fab a piece of fiberglass as a lip insert that goes around the mirror... im still debating tho...
hopefully it will be mostly done tomorrow so i can have a dome light again =/

nuther update on my progress... i got the headliner finished today... and back in the car... now im having trouble tryint to paint all my shit black...
there must be a process to paintint this shizznit... i painted my dome light piece it looks good... but if i ever touch it... it will peel
I had to put it in, hard to see at night when i get in/out of the car...
Also considering what to do with the visors... its a damn pain to try and tuck the cloth where the mirrors are... id like to keep the mirrors available for use... and look stock... but i dunno how im gonna do it... =(
since i have alot of material left over
from the previouse headliner attempt... i might try and cut a piece EXACTLY like the factory cloth piece and try and hook the cloth on the same place as it was before
Tomorrow, I gotta goto the Dodge dealership and see if they have 3 headliner retainer clips... those thangs are a PITA to remove... all 3 of them lil !@#$^'s broke on me on removal
then im goin to wallmart to get some sand paper either 1000 or 1500 grit... some primer and a sealer... im gonna try and sand down a piece of the viynal primer it, paint it, then seal the bastard and see fi that helps it any... hopefully that will fix the painting issue... if so, then i shuold have my interior finished late tomorrow...

^dont get them from the dodge dealer (The clips). Hope I catch you in time!!!
go to advance auto in the 'help!' section and get some there. they have all kinds of body clips there. Ill get you the PN of the ones I used when I replaced mine in about an hour or so (have to run out and pay bills)
As far as the visors, Im just going to try to get a shop to do those for me, and delete the mirrors off them. I swapped out one of the broken mirrors from my 02 so I firgured Id just delete them. I never use them anways.

heres the stuff im using/used
3M General Trim Adhesive - headliner glue worked great!
ValuCraft General Puropse Primer
Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric Paint (Flat Black)
Krylon Satin Clear Coat - makes it shine like stock, and is tough against scratches

Definitely get some pictures. And if you're painting the A pillars too, get pics of them as well. I'm thinking of doing this if yours works out well...

the headliner came out just fine, im still in the process of painting unforunately... But something i noticed on the headliner, it seems a slight bit more limp than the original specially aroudn the dome light, i might take it out at somepoint and use some wires to re-enforce it if need be... But i think the stock headliner, between the backerboard, and the cloth material, there was a single layer of fiberglass to help give it shape and keep it stiff... If i had to do this again, I would probably do a layer of fiberglass first so it had some more strength to it. only downside in doing this is, you have to make sure its in its shape correctly before applying the fiberglass, and the whole process will take a bit longer, cause the fiberglass would need to cure...
