02 ATX stuck in limp mode.

Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

02 ATX stuck in limp mode.

Post by gr8whtd0pe » Wed Nov 04, 2009 10:44 am

I know there are other topics on this, but most were fixed with replacing the speed sensors, adding fluid or swapping out the solenoid pack.

Added fluid, it was about a half a quart low.

Replaced both VSS, nothing.

Replaced the solenoid pack and nothing... but it did start throwing another code when I did that. It now says my TCM is bad and the rom fails during self test. WTF?

I hope this is just a simple wiring issue or something...

HELP!?

Check your grounds under the hood. Your TCM might just be dead too.. hard to say.

I ran into a similar issue and replaced the vss which didn't do the trick then someone told me to replace the conector and wiring that goes to the vss on the bumper side of the trans and that did the trick. It was like 20 something for the part from dodge. If you want I may even be able to find a part number for you.

No the thing on top of the tranny you are refering to is the shift sheloid pack, the tcm connects to it, but isnt anywhere near the tranny.

Lol weird, I don't see where the TCM connects to it. I'm hearing the passenger winshield resovoir area. I'm going to get a new one today for $25...hope it works
