Coilovers vs. Continue saving for Turbo swap

Post by Mopar65 » Wed Nov 04, 2009 9:17 pm

So here is what I'm faced with, I can continue saving up to buy a SRT wreck to do a full swap into my SXT or I can buy Mopar Stage 3 coilovers from a guy on srtforums. I have about $1k saved now so it would pretty much blow my entire savings for my swap as of now. Also one of the coilovers needs a rebuild and they all have about 15k on them. So what do you guys think. Should I go coils or save up for a donor and just run the SRT suspension off the donor with some tein lowering springs.

first off used suspension parts should not be that expensive.

Keep going for the SRT swap and consider new suspension.

I wouldnt pay close to 1k for used parts. Keep going with the savings for the swap or fine another set of cheaper coils. It all depends on what you want out of the car too.

Well the coils are $650 and to rebuild one is apparently about $100, but I am leaning towards continuing for the swap

Uhm, I got my slightly used coils for 500.

People sell BC's for like 600 on there. You need to search harder. I say coilovers.

Hey... Coils on a DD are just fine if you get the right setup going... I love mine, but really.... if your saving for a swap, save for a swap.

Being able to adjust the dampening is such a help for that... :D

i mean i can get brand new coil over for between 8 and 950
but think about what you would have more fun with and what would give you those butterflys every time you drive
lookin low which you can get for a few hundred later
or when you step on that gas you cant help but smile and will make you butthole pucker lol hahahah
and hearign that blow of valve will grab more attention and make you smile way more then coil overs
you cant get that with coils
you will regret it later lol
i say swap with out a doubt

if it's a daily driver, wait on the swap because of downtime

Most people break down and dont make it to the swap. Coilovers can ride great if you dampen them right. Don't say they will bounce you like shit. Just don't slam it and right NO dampening at all, and you should be fine. Chris, you need to take a ride in some people's cars with coilovers, you would have a different thought.

coil overs, tune the suspension so that when you have the xtra power you will also have the extra control, and in the mean time you will be surprised on the smile on your face through the twisties

:withstupid: While the swap is great, there is no comparison to a great hadling car.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...
