blown fues goose hunt..

Post by half_twisted » Mon Nov 09, 2009 8:09 pm

whats up guys its been a while since ive been around these parks.
well today i my bat chose to die on me in the morning. so i quickly took out a spare from my teg and didnt realize i connected the terminals backwards. I was late for work and rushing.
well smoke went up fron the terminals and starter under the intake manifold so i fugured it was fried. first i swapped a new bat and the car started fine. one thing i did notice is that the guage cluster doesnt turn on when you open the door or put the key in the ignition. it only turns on when the ignition it open and the car is running. then i get a fuse reading in the dash.. I checked all the dash fuses and the fuse box in the engine but they all check out good. car runs fine but i get that fuse reading in the guage..

anyone have any leads.

anything powered directly from the battery and not the ignition would most likely be shot and it wouldn't necessarily blow a fuse. Just reverse polarity into the electronics...You could have melted a wire or two. Start checking for battery power in the fuse box. Also I'd check the circuit breakers.

I had a problem similar to this when i was trying to fix my underhood light. I ended up blowing the fuse for all the interior lights. If you have a light under the hood i would check that out to see if its shorting out causing this issue.
