Workplace crush = not good?

Post by Chibits12 » Tue Nov 10, 2009 11:21 pm

Any of you guys and ladies been in this situation?

So this girl will be taking over my spot at work so I can move up in position. She has been there a couple of months. I've been training her since she was hired. At first I wasn't much into her but the more we talked, the more things got interesting. She even gave me a present yesterday. :D

I honestly hate the job which is why I'm trying to find something else but it's a whole lot more fun at work with her around. It's like nothing else matters as long as she's there.

Worst part is she already has a bf and I just broke up with my gf. :(

Not good. I need to get over it but it is difficult. I've been working since 15 and this is the first time it's ever happened to me...

Please feel free to share your stories or advice.

Move on. dating someone at work is bad enough, let alone getting mixed up in her cheating on her bf. even if you hate the job, they can still be a valuable resource as far as giving you a good review to the next potential employer.

It gets really weird when you date and then break up while still working together. Especially when said hostess skips your section as a waiter.

^ I agree with you guys. Which is why the sooner I jump ship, the better.

I'm glad I'm off tomorrow. Her smiles and laughter and her being happy makes me happy which is why it's so difficult.

It's kinda depressing when I think about it but oh well moving on...

There's nothing against keeping in touch as friends until a certain 'opportunity' develops.

Ha, yeah I can speak from experience. It's fun to think about, but not fun when it actually happens. People start talking, bosses question your integrity, there's always the chance that you break up and that makes for an even MORE awkward situation, etc. Not to mention she already has a bf which should strike her off your radar to begin with. :beatstick:

I think what I'm going to do when I come in Thursday is to act like nothing's going on at all. I think it all boils down to my perception. It'll be weird at first but I think it's a step in the right direction.

I'll probably be back to being miserable, just like the way it was before she started working there lol.

It sucks that we have so much in common, same interests and hobbies, but they don't really mean anything in this situation. I think I'll just accept her gift that she gave me as a token of her friendship, nothing else.

Maybe that new Call of Duty game could drown out my sorrows lol.

Been there, done that, many MANY times. and it was all at the same workplace in a 4 month period. lets just say I speak to no one from there any more. lol

I had one chick tell me she wanted to straddle bone

We fooled around then everyone i mean EVERYONE there found out, even the graveyard shift. Lets just say the store managers werent so happy with it. lol

Things get akward and well, in the end it aint worth it. Just keep it as friends. if she gets fired or you leave that place then pursue it ONLY IF SHES SINGLE!!

everything happens for a reason. Give it time and let things play out on its own.

I like a few of the girls I work with. And some of them know it too. But I also have a girlfriend. I've been in a relationship with someone I've worked with before though. It didn't turn out too good. Probably due to the fact that we didn't want anyone to know we were dating. But also due to the fact she was a lying bitch. Anyway, in the end, just find someone outside of work, it will make things easier. And if you break up, you'll never have to see her again.

Don't dip your pen into company ink. It's just now worth the drama.

If one of you leaves the company and the spark is still there, go for it. But until then, it's not worth the hassle at all no matter how tempting.

Only if you never have the opportunity to work together in any way. Now as far as a drunken night going whatever direction and the next day it never happened, that's another story. Just don't get involved if it is going anywhere but the bedroom.

Been there done that too, met my ex wife at work, never again. 1SG tried to get me for disobeying a direct order, fraternization and a host of others. Anyway here is the thing about the whole situation.
Women don't spend time with a guy and give them gifts if there not interested. Now yes she has a boyfriend but if she was happy with him she wouldn't be giving you gifts and or chatting it up with you. She is looking for the confidence to break up with her boyfriend. If none of that is true then she is just screwing around with you cause its fun and it makes her feel good to know she can and you mean nothing to her. Regardless of which is true neither are good for you. and neither are worth your time. We have a saying in the Army, "cut sling load and dump that bitch". Trust me women know the affect they have on us and they use that to get under our skin and they love every minute of it. :banghead:

It does seem like she's just goofing around with me. But when we talk, it also seems like we could pretty much talk about anything.

I am being leary and cautious, I'm not about to put myself in trouble.

What's even bad is that I gave her the office key Tuesday and I forgot to grab my cellphone and my doctor's letter with my address on it near the computer before I left. She sent me an email and she said she'll put them somewhere safe until I get back.

I'm hoping she isn't snooping around with it. I'm being paranoid...

Probably just reading all your dirty text messages

But seriously, that is a risky thing. It sucks, especially when you really like the person, have so much in common, and know it could be everything you want. Either working with said person, or them having a significant other just makes it terrible. You'll just end up depressed and in a bad place if you don't find a way to get it out of your mind...

...... or get them in your bed.

That said, the girl that was the secretary at my work for the past 4 years was interested in me since she started there. She had a baby with her fiance that decided he didn't want to do the whole dad thing and ended up cheating on her. Well, before he cheated they were together and she tried a few times to get me to do stuff... wasn't happening. Made that mistake once before and the girl's bf walked in while she was on top of me drunk (in the afternoon) yet clothed and I had to quickly toss her off me as I heard his keys in the door  So anyway, this past summer we were both single and I was bored so wtf, we messed around a few times and it was kinda weird but I was shocked how well we played it cool at work and it didn't get awkward. I wasn't emotionally attached to her so it wasn't hard for me, like I know it is for you but the point is yeah it can work but it's probably not worth it. She ended up leaving a few months ago due to them giving her increasingly more roles and no more pay. I hope for your sake it turns out for the best, you move on from that job and you get the girl

dude, you work with her at her part-time job. her full-time job is flirting! doesn't matter if she has a bf. she likes the attention that you give her. do with this as you will, but i say if alcohol is involved it's easier to "forget" about it :P

So I came in Thursday upbeat and everything.

I did get to talk to her personally in the afternoon.

All I said was, if either one of us go or move on, can we still be friends?

She said of course, definitely. She sounded happy and relieved. That was that and I didn't say anything else after that. I guess the whole idea of starting a relationship has been thrown out the window, courtesy of me.

I broke up with my gf about a month ago. The more I stay there, the more rotten I'm starting to feel, especially around her. I never show it though but inside, I do feel like crap.

She is pretty. I never cared or paid attention about her at first but again, 40 hours a week with the same person can get you to know a lot. She rarely talks with my co-workers and she's afraid of our boss, I dunno why. She is also a bit shy so she tends to talk to me a whole lot more.

I've started looking around somewhere else last weekend.

Why does work have to be so painful? :( I hope she doesn't know this forum lol.

You've got the right attitude! There aren't many girls on this forum, and none that I'm trying to impress, so I'll say it openly: One night stands FTW.

OP - Just keep your head. I'm sure it is tough, but moving on and finding other things that you enjoy and will occupy your time will make you feel better. Hang in there mang.
