2.0 or 2.4 SRT water pump on a Magnum?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

2.0 or 2.4 SRT water pump on a Magnum?

Post by daver » Wed Nov 11, 2009 5:27 pm

Any reason or benefit to either on a mostly stock Magnum 2.0?
These are interchangable correct?

Looks like the SRT pump is actually cheaper than the stock 2.0 pump..

No, they are not interchangable.

The bodies are a bit different, as well as the mounting points.

:slap: I think he's talking about the water pump John. The 1gn neon waterpumps and 420a pumps will work I dunno about the 2.4 though.

What? What are you talking about? I would never completly miss-read the title to a post and put up info that was wrong and then go back and change it when I was called out on it...never!

Thanks man, I'm a :tardbang:

From the looks of them, IDK what benefit there would be of one over the other. The Jeep 4.0 used a slitter vane WP on the newer models, that is supposed to use 1 less HP to turn. But the bastids clocked it differently, so it won't fit the older engines without changing quite a bit around.

Now if that was the case, it would be worth it for cumlative gains, especially on a four banger.
