The old Daytona Neon is back!!!

Post by dustin_shull » Mon Nov 16, 2009 6:42 pm

Well after sitting for almost 3 years, it's now finally running and ready to be tuned.... Since the last time I posted any updates, a few changes have been made to the car.

First change: The factory harness went goodbye...as did the gauge cluster. It was all replaced by my own wiring and Autometer gauges.

Second change: A DOHC manifold was adapted to the ol single slammer.

Third change: Its more than likely gonna turn into a part time-drag car after we get to drive it on the street (ie slicks, cage,etc...)

And here are a few videos of the car running....

wow. even after 3 years, i still hate that car. only thing i like is the full aftermarket gauge cluster, but i would have a totally different approach.

everything that you have done to the outside of the car. The kit the hood headlights it all needs to go. other then that nice work. love the cluster.

my biggest issue is the kit. and maybe the hood. and the weird stance the car has. and the Daytona theme doesn't really fit into a Neon, that was a Charger/Ram thing.

well, thats the whole point... to do summin different than the same ol same ol... anyone can put on a set of rims, bolt on sum junk, BUT this was built to be summin different. Not many people put that amount of time and effort in to something quite like I have on this thing lol.... hell, theres an easy 5 grand into the ol single slammer and tranny haha Maybe if i take sum more recent pictures you'll maybe give in to the Daytona theme???? lol

not with that Razzi kit i wont. i don't want you to think i'm hating on you, or not appreciating the work you've put in, that part i totally respect, i just don't dig the overall execution. for lack of a better way of saying it. besides, in the end, what really matters is that YOU like it, since YOU drive it.

HEY! Quit whoring in the progress log, Frank!

Back on topic... are your tires bald, or is it the sunlight that makes them look that way?

I hate your hood with some passion lol. Is your trans built??? I hope so, as that gt30 should blow it to pieces if not. Nice build though.

I really like it. Definitely unique. I like the hood and the paint as well as the build. I think you should take of the razzi kit, because IMO the front bumper looks sexy with just the intercooler all exposed.

First off, nice to meet ya!

Well enough said about the Razzi...

I think it would flow better with something more towards the '80's/90's style Daytona side skirts/front lip.
IDK, maybe because that's what came to mind when I seen the thread title.
Kind of merge three decades of styling into it.

Damn, I'm showing my age!

I like the build and the gauges. Nice work.

But the front of the car looks like stock height and the rear is lowered. Why is it uneven? You should lower the front too.

I dig the hood! But the razzi kit needs to go.

well, to answer a few questions.... the tires are actually like new, the pics just were funky.... the car had factory springs/struts in the front when those first pics were taken.....the car sits WAY lower now....

I'll try to take more pics tomorrow of it with my good camera...
