Mounting harware for swaybars...

Post by DoubtedNeon » Thu Nov 19, 2009 12:02 am

What do i need? I just got a 24mm front and 19mm back from suspension techniques and it did not come with ANY hardware at all... what will i need? 2004 se.

(i kinda got fucked by mpx... they told me that the sways did in fact come with everything except endlinks for the back.. then i got it and nothing but the bars were there...)

they seem like a good company, i called them, lets see if they are anything like howell..

goto to the dealer that is what I did. I dont remember the part numbers but you need the four bolts and the brackets that are held on by them. When you look in the service manual you will see what they are.

so you need endlinks , the brackets and bolts for the front and rear for swaybars to mount to the chassis and the bushings for those. prothane would be good for the bushings and endlinks but the only place to get the brackets and bolts to hold them is dodge unless someone knows something I dont.

Yes, it will bolt up just fine in the front like that.

Do you have rear struts or coils with sway bar brackets? If not, you might need to get new rear struts too.

save yourself some heartbreak and buy new hardware for the front since you will probably break the bolts and such up front. I did and so have alot of others. I also forgot if your car didn't come equiped with a rear sway and your using stock struts after 2000 you won't have a place to mount your endlinks

Also on the bolts that attach the bushing retainer straps to the chassis, get ones that are just long enough to clear the weld nut. That way the excess threads aren't there to rust and swell. (The main cause of the oem ones snapping off.) I also anti seized mine.

yeah I never seized as well. Also when I got the remaining bolt pieces out I used a tap and dye to clean the thread up of rust just to be safe.

I have a bit of an anger "issue" not realy a problem, I just dont like it when a company clearly says in an email all I need is endlinks, and then I get the part and its not complete at all. no hardware to speak of. I dont even know where to get these tabs i need. but i need them.

and basically they just tell me to go "find my own" instead of saying "ok ur right we did say they were included here you go". Ill take a look tomm. God damit. /Fuckmylife

I've never dealt with MPx, but I always hear good reviews. Give them a call and an email reminding them what they told you. Unless you already tried that. Then you're the first negative review I've heard.

I never had a problem with them.. You do have to watch for the fine print and options you select.

True, I have never had a problem dealing with Modern. :withstupid:

You might want to raid a local junkyard to find the brackets that you need.
Here is the one for the rear frame:

RandomZero is right..... the 2nd gen Neons that have the rear sway bar, have rear struts with the mounting bracket "built-in".

It would work similar to this:

These are 'tech pics' that I took of a friend's 2005 SXT, after installing a rear bar on his car.

hey man, I have a set of used mounting brackets for the rear sway bar. I might even have some bolts not sure. They're not doing me any good. Make an offer if you want them. I wouldn't be able to get them till Friday though.

probably would have been easier to just buy a new set. maybe cost you 40 bucks more, but save the headache.

energy suspension makes the clamshell with the size bushings you need together. They also have the optionon of being greaseable or not. I got a set of 19mm rears with the grease fittings since I couldnt just find bushings.

As far as the strut brace I believe any aftermarket strut you get will have that perch attached.

Good luck though I hope everything works out
