Hood Latch Adjustment

Post by jonnymopar » Sat Nov 21, 2009 3:55 pm

My hood has a significant amount of play in it and it doesn't look like it's latched all the way down, even though it is. I know there's a way to adjust the height of the latch, but I can't find it in the service manual or by looking at the car. Anybody know?

Adjust the black hood adjusters, sounds like they're too high.

No, it's the opposite that's happening. When both stages of the hood latch are locked (I can feel both distinct clicks), the hood itself is still too high. Right now, with the hood completely latched, it's not even touching those two black bumpers you guys are talking about. There's about 1/4" of play in the hood when it's fully closed. I've got those black bumpers backed out a bit to stop the damn thing from rattling, but it's easily seen that the hood is up too far.

Two 10mm bolts that hold the hood latch to the core support. Loosen them, and adjust it down.

:withstupid:

Just did that last night. The body shop had the height correct, but the latch was high enough to let the hood rattle with every bump.

I just tweaked it down a litte. A PITA working through the latch handle hole, on a Kaminai front bumper...
