engine coolant leak

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

engine coolant leak

Post by srtgtr34 » Mon Nov 23, 2009 12:01 pm

I was chaging the wheels over to the winter ones and saw a good amount of coolant dripping on the ground. I checked the resevoir shortly after and it was lower than the "add" line.

THe car never over heated since it doesn't go over 20 miles a day nor did the coolant temp ever go higher than normal.

I need some help locating where exactly it could be leaking from. its not leaking where it connects to the radiator or where it connects to the water pump. From under the car, it looks to be coming from the rear of the engine and drips down onto the front control arm and the rear of the engine mount. The overflow was dry so I know its not from that.

If anyone could help, It'd be greaty appreciated.

I'd say freeze plugs on the back of the motor are leaking, or a hg problem. my guess

Why don't you just go look for yourself? Could be coming from a lot of places...

Was it dripping off the engine?
Fix it 'till it's broken. Then upgrade.
