Under drive pulley

Post by Silver R/T » Wed Nov 25, 2009 3:19 pm

I have a 2001 R/T and i want to get an under drive pulley but don't want to spend that much. Is an OBX pulley good or bad and what are some good ones to look for?

Well you have 3 choices.

Ebay types (obx ect.) = $50 w/o belts
Modern Performance = $100 w/ belts
Unorthodox = 200 w/ belts?

The MPx one is very nice, I've had it for almost a year and love it. IMO the UR one is not worth another hundred bucks.

i currently have the MPx underdrive and the Lorenzo overdrive and an '01 PT alternator. my volt gauge fluxuates between 14.0 and 14.4. i'd say with that combo there's no issues. oh yeah, i'm running a pretty large system!

This is the same setup Ive got.

With a 300watt amp, it did fine without the ODP on the alt... when I upgraded and got my 1200watt amp, the lights would dim along with the bass at idle. No longer with the OPD.

Plus, the ODP is a LOT lighter than the stock one.

I doubt the version 2 has any real advantage over the version 1. Most of that weight is in the center, where the effect is minimal. I would buy the used one, and bank the remaining cash. Hell the ODP would be free, along with the new belts. If I didn't have an '02 PCM, I would buy Kevo's udp. Around $90 less than new sells me.

Yea Im lookin into Kevos as well. I just know im gonna need the ODP so now I have to hunt down the alt belt. I think the ps/ac would stay the same as the ODP only would affect the Alt.

Modernperformance should have the belt number right on their site.

They do, but not for the situations when an alternator ODP is being used.
