Black Friday

Post by LowNSlow » Fri Nov 27, 2009 12:12 pm

What did you snag?

We bought a TV from AAFES online.... 32" Samsung LCD 720P.

It's for the bed room hence size and it not being a 1080p.

The wife can watch her girly shows and I can continue to play COD on the bigger tv. :P

We got a 32" from Target. 720p as well, it's also for the bedroom.

Same idea, she can watch stuff in the bedroom and I can keep the racing and the football on the big TV :D

We also picked up a few board games for toy donations and a couple for us.

We went XMAS shopping to get stuff for my brother. I got stuff I needed that I had run out of for the car, but nothing that was part of the black friday madness. Not interested in that....I needed my sleep.

i got 2 12"s for $140, and they came in a box preported, Plexiglas cover, and light up. I figure, even if they aren't the best 12s in the world, i'm not tryna blow shit up.

Sat at home and didn't do a fucking thing but read a book. Then I went to my mom's, and I'm enjoying her amazing left overs, waiting for a few people to call me. One about my dart off ebay, one about the enkei wheels I'm selling. I really want my motor this weekend.

We went shopping at 3 junkyards and no where else. Picked up misc odds and ends.
Trunk lid "liner" and clips from an '02 ($6),
spare starter ($14),
really good carpet from an '02 ($6),
spare shifter ($14),
console/e-brake from an '02 for my new NYG Sport Coupe ($20 for both),
fog light block-off plates from a '00 (freebies)
and two pockets full of all the screws/nuts/bolts/clips I could get my hands on, most I left in plain sight and didn't TRY to steal.
Found and then forgot an almost perfect driver's front floor mat, dammit. I might have to go back for it.

Didn't find:
a rear seat with headrests that I want to have for a spare. Yet, I'm still looking.
a good white hood and trunk lid for Tony's '95.
a front license plate holder, no '01s in any of the yards.

Did see an Orange Blast SXT. Hood, trunk and one door gone, bags blown. Almost picked up the color-matched radio surround bezel, for no real reason other than it is orange.

I stayed at home and...

-worked (my real job)

-then continued work on home renovations and cleanup (my 2nd non-paying job)

-did not spend a dime... who needs this junk?

On that last comment up there... I have come to discover that the stuff I purchased 10 years ago is now old and being tossed out or otherwise disposed of. My conclusion... don't purchase all this trash in the first place and save your money.

That is the perfect cue for this...

I worked 2am to 3pm.

Had a line of over 600 people when I got to work this morning, and over 1000 by 5am when we opened the doors. I really wanted to tell these people how pathetic they are as most of them had been camping out since Wednesday morning..

We actually were looking to buy a 32" TV for our bedroom, so we just bumped the purchase date up a little.

None taken! It's hell. My girlfriend was all giggly because she FINALLY got invited to go with her cousins. Guess what? Apparently, all the boyfriends/fiancees/husbands get to tag along and do the EXTRA fun stuff. Y'know, carrying purses, holding massive piles of clothes/shoes, getting yelled @ for being "pissy."

QFT. We stayed up till 5am and headed to best buy hoping to get a good deal on some head units and maybe a TV. What a waste of time! Not one deck was on sale, and the deals on TV's were decent at best. Almost got a 42" samsung plasma for $570, but decided that our 36" was good enough. That's almost $100 an inch just to get 6" more. The line was in the store right away so we didn't have to wait at all, but within 10 minutes of opening there were about 100 people in each line. Every department had its own line (wtf), so the $20 we would have saved on a digital camera would have easily cost us an hour or more in line. Ridiculous!

Whoever is so cheap that they're willing to wait THAT long to save a few bucks needs to jump off a cliff or something. Get a life.

 hahaha. I do not envy you. Instead, I met up with Matt (nitehawk) Dan (and his gf) , and Dante, we ate free KFC since Matt works there and shot the shit about Neons for a few hrs. What else could a guy ask for? I didn't even sit in any mall traffic! woot! Almost got dragged to the malls with Dan and his gf, but I managed to get out of that. (Hope it was fun Dan  )

Oh yeah, I'll be getting a new 12 mp camera, got some new shoes today, and possibly Adobe CS4 Design Suite cheap through school for X-mas. My mom and sisters went out and did the mall thing and came home with buttloads of clothing, shoes, presents for various family members and a less fortunate family from the giving tree at our church, and one from a similar program at my sister's work. I may not make shit for pay, I have about $20 to my name at any given point (Adam can attest to this  )my mom is a babysitter and my dad is a mechanic that will probably make less than his usual ~30k this year since he had to start fresh at age 62 at a new dealer since his was shutdown, and I have 4 siblings and I've never once gone without anything I needed. I'm very fortunate to have parents that will no matter what put their kids needs before theirs. Hopefully I'll be graduated in the next few months, find a decent job and can give back. :D Any time I've had to borrow money I try my best to pay it back as soon as I get paid, but I know I missed a few and I hate feeling like I owe someone something.

I hope everyone here had a great Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it, or at least love to eat turkey and sleep) and has a great Christmas/Hanukkah/Chanukkah/Kwanzaa/Chrismikkah/whatever/nothing

Well put Sr. Ryan. I DO envy your day. I feel like I've missed 3 nights of sleep. Plus, the neon hasn't gotten any attention or talk! Hell, the gas light has been on for 3 days because I'm not even paying attention to the car when I'm driving like usual.

I agree with your fortunate situation. There have been questionable times, and my mother is by no means wealthy, but she manages money very well, I rarely have more than $40 to my name, and I've never worried about meals or food or shelter. I always donate my extra stuff, stick around to help at places, and volunteer at our shelters because it reminds you what you've got when you get home.

/my thanksgiving dinner speech

I didn't get anything on my outing on Black Friday. Just a couple grumpy girls for the car ride, and some dark, dark eyes.
