What cam for turbo? URGENT!!

Post by LCPLPunk » Tue Oct 18, 2005 10:31 pm

I've got a Crane 14 i might be putting in soon..

Should i downgrade to a Magnum cam or Crane 12, or is the Crane 14 good for turbo use?

I noticed that Roach runs a Crane 14, so it's gotta be okay to use..

What's the BEST to run?

from what I heard you want either the 12 or a magnum cam...
I'll trade you my magnum cam plus $$ for your #14 :D
From what I hear the 12 or mag cam is better to help spool up the turbo quicker...but im not sure....

that's kinda what i thought. This sux. :P I'm supposed to get all my stuff installed on Friday, but if i'm gonna have to sell my 14 i'll have to put it off once again. :P

I'll let you know what i'm gonna do. I've actually got a guy holding a mag cam for me right now, i'm waiting for my install guy to wake up so i ask him which cam he suggests.

I'll sell you the 14 for 165 shipped, that's how much i got it for.

Lemme know.

Depending on what turbo you're using, you may not want the turbo to spool up faster. The crane 14 will give you better power, it'll just be higher in the rpm range. Like say, my srt turbo spools at around 2k with my mag cam in there. If I had a 14, it would spool probably around 2500 or maybe even 3k if I'm lucky. Having it spool so fast makes it harder to launch. When you're putting down a decent amount of power out of a FWD, it's hard to launch it right if it all comes off the line right away.

As long as you have the crane 14 in hand I'd say go for it. If you're just going with the small srt turbo then it'll be better. The only time I could really see it hurting is if you have a huge turbo that already takes forever to spool. Basically you'd have to wait untill around 4-5k just to see any boost.
