Issues with the eBay car:
Didn't all SRT-4's come with the same wheels? I don't think that qualifies as "premium" wheels...
Cruise control? Really? Must be that new one that only requires you to think about holding the speed steady, instead of hitting the stalk on the steering wheel...
Intermittent wipers are a "feature"? Is this 1982?
Nice bald (I assume front) tires, needs an alignment, as the inner edge of the tire is more bald than the outside.
Is it just me, or does the fabric on the front and rear door panels not match up? Seems like the rear is from a normal Neon while the front is from the SRT.
Foggy headlights.
Mileage is accurate with a typical 03 vehicle, so I wouldn't worry about that... I'd go no higher than 7K maximum if you were to buy that. Plus figure your transportation costs, etc etc etc.
Or... buy locally.

That is a full SRT-4 interior, but I would not buy one of these cars unless I knew the previous owner or could see it in person. Lots of room for error when buying a used performance car.

Everything I see on the car appears to be pretty stock.
Exterior wise it is missing the fog light bezels.
IMO, that car looks pretty damn good. Engine bay is stock, which any competent mechanic could've reverted it back to and they armorall'd the shit out of it. But still not bad.
It's a FWD 230whp car, no shit the tires are going to be worn.
I say get it though...seems very clean.

Yup, did you notice that one set (appears to be front) is worn while the others don't? Burnouts/beatings much?
I still maintain that the rear door panel inserts look different than the fronts, but I may very well be wrong on that. Just something I noticed and would ask about.

Yup, but it's an 03 so only one wheel is spinning. Pretty common i'd imagine.
I don't quite follow the door panel thing. Can you post the pic to show me what you're reffering to?

You can see it has the carbon fiber type texture on it. Drivers front door.
Looks more like a standard Neon door panel, not SRT. The egg shaped insert.Passenger side is the same way. Front matches the SRT, rear doesn't seem to. Seems kind of odd that the difference would show from front to rear only?

I would hop in my Neon and drive anywhere.
Nothing wrong with traveling in a Neon. I drove it 1000 miles to Niagara Falls for my honeymoon.

there is a problem about swapping a srt motor and not telling your insurance.... If you wreck or somehow they inspect your car, and they notice the motor swap. They will not cover the "incident" most likely... Happened to a buddy of mine...
could always pick a gt cruiser....it's a little uglier than a neon, but packs the srt motor. I picked up my 04 last year with 6k miles on it for 12k. Look long and hard for a car, you'll find the right one.

Oh yeah, that too. Obviously it's not covered if you don't tell them. I'm not sure how it works with filling them in with mods. . . at that point it could be cheaper to insure an SRT.
Also, when it comes down to my engine going, I'll be looking for a PT of some sort, hopefully a GT. No one thinks to look for those, and they are in abundance around here.

What's your opposition to a swapped car? If you're asking about insurance prices, you may struggle to pay the insurance of an SRT. If you want the looks, use the insurance cash and buy your car back and some SRT parts, so you've got the look. If you want the power, swap it or find a swapped one. If you just want an all-around SRT, then go ahead. You'll just be paying more for insurance, especially with your recent claims, and most likely a higher monthly payment.

Is it just under YOUR name? That seems very low for full coverage for a 20 year old.Adionik wrote:If you get full coverage you're going to get fucked in the ass. I pay $70 a month because I own the car.
I switched over to Progressive and I am paying $99 a month with a $500 deductible. I was paying $150~ I have no tickets either... Car and insurance is under my name only and has been paid off.
Don't you have an SXT too? How much are you paying for that?

i dont know really. i just want a srt4 plain and simple. i can buy the srt4 out so i wont have monthly payments. the only thing i would have to worry about is insurance wich im sure i got that covered.. so rite now its either wait to see what they say.. fix the current neon...or get money for it being totaled.. and use that money plus what i got to find a srt-4. a swapped one ehhh i might as well go for a real srt4.
the point is if i buy a swapped one..ehh i want the srt4 looks also. but im not gonna fake my current one out. i want a real srt4 with the real engine. and the only thing i would do on the srt4 would be suspension work and alot of engine work.

Seriously my insurance is more than most people's car payments, and that's no word of a lie. Look up the threads here where people talk about insurance on their SRTs, most are well over $200 a month. Plus the car payment you'll have. Not to mention you have two at fault incidents in the past few months, another Neon might be the best option for you, a swapped neon would be all the better.
Do yourself a favor, take down the VIN number of one of the SRTs you find for sale, such as the Ebay one, and get a few insurance quotes. After that you'll better know if you can afford it, and a car payment, or not. A 10k car costs at least 220/month on an extended loan with excellent credit and a very low APR.
Sean: You're right that's an SXT door panel in the rear and an SRT door panel in the front.
