Ebay Fiberglass SRT Skirts

Post by Mopar65 » Mon Dec 07, 2009 4:24 pm

Ok I know this has a few other threads around already, but no one has answered my question yet. With the fiberglass SRT skirts offered by American carbon fiber in eBay, I know that the original set sold and I hope it is someone on here because I have some questions.
First of all, do they look alright because I know people have complaints about their carbon fiber have shitty weave and other issues. Secondly, how are your mounting them on the car? If I buy them I plan to do double-sided tape for the door caps, and self tapping screws plus tape for the actual skirts. Just curious if this is the same method you used or did you find something better? Thanks

Can't you just buy it and if it sucks then return it for a refund?

Yep, I bought the first set.
First, It took like 16 days to get here, but they were wrapped to survive all hell, so no complaints there. As for the skirts, I really like them. I think that I found like one defect on the actual skirts and I will be sanding it off easily. Honestly though, I know very little about fiberglass workmanship.
They come with zero mounting hardware, as you might guess. I haven't even bought anything for it yet, but I agree with the double sided tape/ self-tapping screws. Depending on how secure that is, I may or may not buy/fabricate additional mounting brackets.
The biggest thing that I didn't like was that ebay said it had a "UV Clearcoat" and there is absolutely no clearcoat on the sides. Even if you have a black car, you will have to at least put a clear coat on the sides.
Well, I think that's it. Hopefully all of that answered your question.

If you want i can give you an update when I get these painted and put them on.

Mounting hardware....aka $5 at Lowes. Whoopie.

But the clearcoat does certainly suck, that shit is expensive.

clear is cheap, even for good stuff like PPG or SPI, crappy workmanship is what costs

Just get them prepped and painted properly and you should be good to go. I'd think. I just don't like fiberglass very much, so lucky me I got some off an SRT.

Get you some.

I actually wish I still had R/T / Mopar skirts. SRT skirts take away from the Neon shape IMO.

Yeah, looks good, but I'd rather have R/T skirts over SRT skirts w/out caps. They look worse that way haha. Also Ben, lower that lip!

The lips not moving anywhere, it bonded on. But the top edge is sitting right on the radius of the bumper, I thought I did it right :(. Car just needs more lower.

Do you have anymore pics without the srt skirt door pieces? I've been wondering how that'd look.

I will see if I can find some, car currently covered in snow. I have the door piece just haven't put them on, but don't know if I'm going too. If I do me and faceless would have twins, except his lip is done right I guess :banghead:
