I need more power

Hi Guys
I have the stock 2.0L engine 2001 Neon ATX 4 speed...I have a remus exhaust and KN air filter in...I don't wanna put in a a cold air as I don't want hydrolock...

Can I do anything to get more power without killing the trans or engine?

Also i dont wanna pull the engine apart cant afford that...

??

I think the biggest issue will be cost. Shipping to Australia will probably be a bitch.

Good places to start would be an underdrive pulley, a magnum header and a bigger throttle body. Not a ton of power, but a little extra.

Also a magnum intake Mani and maybe a mild cam could help a little

Weight reduction is free and actually more effective than almost everything listed above. Take out 75-100 lbs and you'll see a huge difference in acceleration. Also, unless you regularly drive through 2 ft of standing water, hydrolock isn't a concern. That only happens to people who are either careless or clueless.

if you're lowered it's my understanding that you can hydrolock your engine if the filter is completely submerged in water. The filter sits above the base of the front fascia, so in reality you only need 6" of standing water...

+1 to weight reduction. Although, your friends may make fun of you if your interior is gutted... Go for the trunk carpet, padding underneath, and spare tire cover (~15lbs).

UDP and 60mm TB were the most effective in my opinion.

true, but at least where i live i dont think ive ever driven through any water deeper than an inch or two. it never hurts to be prepared tho, bypass valve maybe?

if you put in a bigger throttle body is there any modification or tuning? is it plug and play?

one a 2001 i believe it is, on some of the 2003 and up car it sends em into limp mode, not on mine tho thankfully. depending on the throttle body you go with, some will need adaptor plates. but the 60mm from modern performance just clamps right in and swap the senors over

The TB is good for a boost in throttle response, probably not much actual power though.

And back to the intake discussion. My car is pretty damn low and my ICEMAN filter is at least a solid foot off the ground. I won't even drive my car through a 3" puddle though, thus preventing ever having an issue. It's pretty simple to avoid.

Problem with rain down here ...where I live... is that it can downpour quite bad ..I am worried about water splashing up and the air intake sucking up constant sprays of water from not only cars in front but puddles!

Water spray is not a big concern, it is a solid pool that will kill the bottom end.

truth i ran my aem in several territorial downpours aviod big puddles and no its not becuasre blasting through them AVOID THEM

Nitrous Oxide... its simple, reliable and will destroy all the mods listed above by far power wise. Best bang for your buck
