That's a very short tire for a z-28. Pics?DroopDaddy408 wrote:Dude, go get laid or something. The OP said he had no plans of using that combo. The guy asked for feed back not bashing. Everyone has different taste, rite. I mean look, we all drive Neons.... go figure. Personally I ran 205/50/15's on 15x10's on my Iroc-Z28 and I drove it plenty hard for years. Guess I was just lucky

So many neons so little time.

Nah, I aint got no pics. I had that car back in the day( late 90's). The tire size was 205/50/15's on 15x10in Prime. Polished alloy 5 star rims. It gave my Z a mean look from the front and back like it was pumped up on steriods or something. And the Z was born with torque (5.7 350 T.P.I.) so burnouts were on the regular........
I miss my car!!!!

245/50/15 tire is 24.64 inches tall.DroopDaddy408 wrote:23in Tall?? Stockers were 16x8in rim w/ 245/50's. I'm not good w/ the calculations but I dont think that was even 23in. The overall size shrank a bit as far as height. From 16 to 15's. The 245mm on the 8in'ers were bulky. The 205 on the 10in was LOW PRO!! VDub style...
245mm/50%=4.82 inchesx2 (for the top and bottom sidewall)=9.64+15inch rim=24.64 inches total.
Personally I like the "flush" look and I plan on doing something like it on my neon come spring time. Some people take it to a whole other level where its stupid and unsafe. But a "mild" stretching of a tire has never been proven (that I know of) unsafe or dangerous to the structure of the tire. Again, to each his own but I dont mind it when tastefully done.
Examples:
Good!

BAD

Ok first off you're making my brain hurt with all your mathmatics, aight!!
And second, Yea, stretching a tire is flat out stupid from a safety prospective. I dont know how I didnt have a blow out w/ my IROC. I think a flush look is hella koo and good for perfomance due to the contact patch. But I'm really feeling the look of the black 2gn w/ the silver rims. That's the look I'd go for. Now, If someone would only comment on those safety issues without "bashing".

He said he was on a 16" wheel so:
245/50/16 = 25.64"
and then the 205/50/15 = 23.1" and maybe less due to the stretching.

Demon: thanks man, ya, I actually bought these because I knew one day I would have a SRT, lmao. Just wish they were a 16x8.5. At that time, no one could get me a 16x8+ for under $700 a rim, so these had to do. But, all things being equal, they are still only 12lbs.

Also known as a Piece-o-Shit, this car has to be the worst car ever made. Although it may look cool and have a great name, this car has many defects. Everything from gaping holes in the back floor panel, to missing interior, from failing clutches, to having the clear coat applied before the paint, this car takes the cake as the worlds worst idea of a car.

I like the looks of a lot of these wheel setups.... but that. is. ridiculous.
I am a mech. engineer and from an engineer's point of view, even if it doesn't cause catastrophic failure (that anyone has proven) doesn't make it safe, or perform well, or ride well... Just because you "can" do something doesn't mean you should or make it alright. Everything is designed with a worst case scenario in mind, and has a calculated factor of safety (generally pretty high) and we do this to prevent catastrophic failure. I have to believe that wheel and tire combination is coming uncomfortably close to that failure point.
That being said... Hybrid what is your buddy running for suspension? I was planning on running 245's on a 8" wide rim but if I can fit more, I want to.

your tires are the only connection between you and the road .... i wouldt screw with that :O
i never had a tire explode on me ( thank god ) but i think when you going 100 mph and your front tire blows because your not using them in the propper way, you ll end up pretty bad
but it looks kinda cool in a way
