Noob from TX

Post by 05sxt » Fri Dec 11, 2009 7:55 pm

Hey guys! 25 year old from Austin, TX here. I'm new to this forum but not to cars in general. I currently drive a 2005 Neon SXT Midnight Blue PB8. I never did anything to the car except add an aftermarket stereo (subs, amps, components, deck, the whol shebang) because I had always been under the impression that this car was simply an interim until I got a Dodge Magnum. Unfortunately thats not gonna happen anytime soon so I am now content with modding my Neon.

I have some pretty cool ideas I've been concocting over the last few weeks on what I want to do and I'm hoping this forum will be a valuable resource in doing so. More posts to come on that.

Here's a pic from when I first bought her new. I haven't taken any since then b/c there hasn't really been a need to but that will soon change. Again, hi to everyone here and thanks for the welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys and girls! I'm planning on taking some updated pics today to post and will list the few mods I have already (audio) and also my future planned mods (including a TON of lighting upgrades a la Sparkplug. I like her work), so keep your eyes peeled for that coming soon.

And I mentioned this in another post, but I'm waiting for an email back from a certain store that claims to have the Mopar side skirts and front/rear lip in stock. I requested that they verify for me and if it comes back positive, I will post the website for ya'll. (Only after I order me some hehe!)

Audio

Post by 05sxt » Mon Dec 14, 2009 10:09 am

Sorry I didn't get the extra pics up. My DSLR camera was full of pics from my wife's friend's wedding we went to over the weekend. But here's the smorgasbord of audio that I have in my Neon:

-Eclipse CD5000 w/ Ipod connect
-Kicker SS 6.5" Components in doors
-Kicker SS 6x9"3-way coaxials in rear deck
-Inifiniti Reference 350 4-channel amp
-Rockford Fosgate Power 800.2 sub amp
-2x Image Dynamics IDMaxV2 12" subs in sealed enclosure
-Tsunami 2-Farad cap and Tsunami wiring
-Hifonics 12-band EQ

I know there's a lot of different brands there, but I worked as a car audio salesman for 3 years and was able to get REEEEALLY good deals on a lot of these random pieces. I've also been doing car audio installs for about 7 years now too. All together my setup sounds great for what I listen to (everything) at a decently loud volume but nothing too obsurd.

At some point in the near future, I will be building a custom fiberglass enclosure and will probably sell all my old components and buy all matching speakers/amps/subs etc and I will post a step-by-step writeup of my project.

Again, sorry for the delay but more pics to come real soon. Thanks guys and gals!

Yes I do come from a predominantly Dodge and Toyota family. Growing up all I can remember my family driving were either Dodge/Chryslers or Toyotas even to this day.
In fact my own family carries the tradition on as I drive the Neon and my wife is driving a Corolla and we're about to upgrade to a 4Runner and a Dodge Magnum sometime in the near future (need more space for the coming baby).
What gave it away? Was it my old Dodge Ram in my original picture?

Alright, my wife has the DSLR in her car so I had to take these pics with my iPhone so I apologize ahead of time for the shitastic quality. Since its been raining a lot here lately the car is filthy both inside and out and since it's cold as hell tonight, I took the pics with it parked in my garage. Apologies aside, here ya go:

here is the Eclipse deck
Image
here are the RF and Infiniti amps lazily mounted to the seatbacks

and my simple carpeted sealed box with two IDMax 12"s

Since I've been in the car audio industry for awhile, I feel I should explain that my simpleton installation was not due to a lack of talent or creativity but rather to haste as I was assuming I wouldn't have my system in there for very long. Here are some pics of other peoples' rides that I have done audio work on to give you a more accurate view:

this is a current fiberglass project I'm working on right now:

I totally agree. I didn't put the lambo doors on it nor is it even my truck. Was a friend of a friend that was referred to me for the sub box console. The outside design of that truck was ummm... for lack of a better word, horrendous. But hey! who am I to pass up a paying customer. :)
