Credit Cards with Rewards

Post by MyNeonSaysHi » Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:27 pm

I have been getting quite a few credit card offers in the mail and most of them have some sort of rewards program. I am thinking about going with one of these so I get something in return for spending money.

Right now I just have 1. Its a Sears Gold Mastercard. I pay it off every month.

Anyone know of any good ones I should look into getting? I just plan on getting one and shredding my Sears and never using it again.

Thanks.

I have a credit card through Bank of America (my primary bank as well). I put all of my work expenses on it. You can elect to receive products, gift cards or cash.

I hit 50,000 points in about July or so and was able to get a $500 check. If you are an account hold you can get up to 1.5 points per dollar.

Same here. I'm really happy with my Chase card.

I have the Chase Amazon card. I think I get 3pt / Dollar when buying things on Amazon. 2pt for gas and 1pt normal. 3000pt -> $50 check If I remember right.

Not bad at all. ^

Account hold? Not sure what that means.

So Chase with rewards or Chase Amazon.. Any other ones I can look into.

I used to have a Chase BP Visa but killed it when the bank refused to give me a better interest rate (I asked because of my killer FICO score and my paying in full every month). It was nice to get points towards gas but Chase ticked me off enough to go ahead and cancel the card (not a smart move since it affected said credit score- I know better now!). I went ahead and got a MasterCard through my credit union that offers points but got ripped off earlier this year when I tried to redeem them for a magazine subscription. Now I just use the points for cash when I accumulate enough of them.

That should read account holder. If you have a checking account with Bank of America you get more points with the Bank of America rewards card.

Just a regular Chase card. They wouldn't go lower than 16% when my other card was 4% at the time. They said 16% was their lowest rate. It was more a matter of principle, since I rarely carry a balance. I would stick with PNC/Huntington/Bank of America, or which ever has the best features to suit your needs.

Personally I think they can all suck it, after getting our money so they can rape us in the end. But that's beside the point.

Off-topic but I really hesitated to close the BP card as it was the only link back to my first major credit card- Standard (later Amoco), which I opened in the mid-80's. Nothing left of the old Standard Oil trust since BP bought out Amoco in the 90's.
