stock srt4 radio/cd to replace stock '00 radio/cassette

Post by Seventhguest » Thu Oct 20, 2005 12:13 pm

hey,

i heard that the wiring of the srt4 radio with cd player is different then the '00 neon wiring.

who can confirm this, and how can you fix it?

do you need a srt4 harness to rewire the '00 neon wires to?

any info would be great

The wiring is different and I don't think it can be swtiched but I might be wrong about that. I hear the problem really is that the BCM (Body Control Module) which the radio runs through doesn't output the sound quite right so it comes out pretty flat.

I thought the only vehicles that had the radio wired into the BCM were the GM theftlock ones?

I swapped out my 00 Stock CD deck into my mom's 01 Stratus that had the cassette deck. No prblems there, i don't see why the harness would be different in the newer models

I think it was in 2002 that they revamped the radios. Thats why the RB4 won't work right in the 2000 and 2001.

harness might be diff, but the wiring should be the same.. , pos neg, remote, ground, power etc etc... cut and splice.... i put a sony in my car and it came with the harness adapter.. then i swapped the stereo out with a pioneer, left the harness, and just matched up the wires to where they go... dont see why it wouldnt be the same with a stock swap..

edit actualy that harness itself is an aftermrket cd player from my guess that all the wires are spliced in the second pic. but the first pic is the wiring before the cut wires. so its the srt4 wires for the radio...

As diablo stated, in 02 the changed to a single connector Vs the old dual connectors. There is an adapter available at the dealer so you can swap an 03 radio into an 01 or vice versa. They run about $20

To go with the 02 and up radio you need the:
82207541 $26 list, you can probably get it for less since most dealers never really end up using them.....
As for going from a single connector to a dual connector harness, id have to get the number from work....

notice the antenna difference, so for the dual fiches I can order the partnumber you posted? does it also include the white thing?

sorry but have no experience with radio's.

these are the radios, above '00 european (cassette) and below srt4 (cd) :

aslo does the entry code (when you disconnect battery) work on the radio itself or on the car's ecu? otherwise I might need the entry code of the radio I bought, but the ex-owner known no code :(

any help would be appreciated.

the adapter will work to connect the radio, as for the CD changer control I'd have to look to see if there is an adapter for it. And as for the radio code...good question, id also have to look into that..
