Damn that really sucks... Mine's been making weird noises and I'm hoping it's not getting ready to fail, or if it does I hope my 7/70 isn't up yet.
I'm curious how they got your car on the flatbed without the front bumper scraping or the fart cannon dragging?? Or did it.

Don't matter. Having the car dropped is tight man. Who cares what the consquences are for a slammed neon.

/sarcasm
You ever manually shift the tranny? You get the tranny serviced regularly?
3 speed auto?
Hope you get everything fixed and she runs good. This might be a good time to piece together a manual swap? Probably not since its your only car and you probably will need it ASAP.

Hey i manually shift my tranny all the time. I however don't do burnouts or have ever neutral slammed or reverse to drive slammed my car which has the 3 speed auto with 142,000 miles on it and i have no problems at all. Maybe it's because i rev match mine when i downshift that i have no problems? Idk but my tranny doesn't mind it one bit and have never had any signs of slipping and when i change the fluid i barely even get a hint of metal shavings stuck to the magnet. I know other people have had bad luck with their auto's but i haven't. "knock on wood"

^^ Valid points. My brother's 02 was the same. Manually shifted sometimes, rev-matched, no N bombs or retarted driving. His is just fine, and my sister now drives it. 189K and runs almost as strong as my engine! (Which has 16x,xxx on it).
Also, over this Christmas break, I'm making my own tow-hitch. It'll be "hidden," and no stick out of the bumper very much. Just enough to be useful. Also, I'm just going to keep it in the car, and if it needs towing, I'll just pull it out and bolt it on real quick. Tow hitches that are really for towing FTW.

Good idea for the tow hitch. I need to invest in a way they can tow my car without f-ing it up if i ever need to be towed. When i dyno'd my car i almost cried because when we tightened the straps on the back it pulled my bumper in then i was like oh well i got a new one sitting at home lol.

i never really manually shifted and when i did it wasnt retarded kid stuff... it has just under 59k... i wanted to do a manual swap but that is too much money and i have none... hopefully i can find some small jobs to do so i can save up some money since alll the places i could work at already have all the seasonal work they need... i had to get my car towed from the garage to my house and AAA was taking to long so i just drove it backwards all the way home... it is only about 2 miles and i took all back roads haha

Actually, depending on what kind of deals you can find, the MTX swap won't be as expensive as you think. You might want to seriously consider this, especially since you have been given the perfect opportunity.

i would definitely love to do a 5 speed swap... i just need to somehow find the money and the people to help me do it because labor isnt cheap and my mom is considering selling the car for scrap because all of her non-car-loving friends that dont realize or understand that i love wrenching on the car say it isnt worth the time or money.

The way I see it... that's stupid. The option I told you about is fairly cheap, and even if you scrap the car, ok, so now you just ruined a good car AND you don't have one and can't buy one for the menial amount of money you got from scrapping it. It's cheaper to fix it than buy a new car. That's just my opinion. Hope it works out.

yeah thats my opinion too... my mom is just satan and doesnt understand... and her friends opinions, well they are just wrong.. this was my first car and many special times have happened with this car. i told her that i will pay for a new tranny and find people to help me install it and it will be worth the money.. the car has a brand new timing belt and water pump, a new suspension and a lot of other good parts.. so i just have to fight to keep her!

Just thought of something that might help you out. I have the 3 spd out of the Jewel that I'll give you a hella deal on if you come pick it up. It is just sitting around collecting dust.
It would just need the valvebody reinstalled and possibly a few odds and ends that could be taken from your current trans. PM me if your interested and we'll talk.

Yeah, that car is in good shape. No sense getting rid of it. And I understand the sentimental value. Although, I hated my first car and was pretty happy to get rid of it haha.

Hit up Chris! That's an offer I'd try to work with.
Also, there is an '01 in the local JY with the complete engine and trans, 5spd, and I can take the entire car home for $600. Trans is yours if you want me to scoop the car up. I can help install, too. Weekend trip FTW.
