H E L P PLEASE !!!!!!!!!! car is f ing up

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

H E L P PLEASE !!!!!!!!!! car is f ing up

Post by playboy2k4 » Sun Dec 20, 2009 2:40 pm

First off I have a 2000 neon es that was running pretty good until just yesterday. While I was driving I noticed it start to act wierd. when I would press the gas it would stall a little and then take off also when I took my foot off the gas it would still revv a little then stop, also as I was driving the car began to jerk and act as if was going to cut off. I pulled these codes off the car

P0462 Fuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too Low Fuel level sensor input below acceptable voltage.

P1391(M) Intermittent Loss of CMP or CKP Loss of the Cam Position Sensor or Crank Position sensor has occurred.

can somebody put those in lamans terms and tell me how to fix them please. I have to get back and forth to work next week and need my car reliable. thanks in advance for any help I get with this.

I think the driveability problem has to do with your 2nd code, P1391.
You have either a bad cam or crank sensor, or wiring or the connector going to one of those may be damaged somehow.

Fortunately, cam and crank sensors on a Neon are pretty straightforward to replace, if you change them yourself.
Do you know where they are located ??

Only if somehow it is cracked.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.

Would bad gas or water in the tank cause me to have these faults ?

Does the car run normally now ? Then you have probably fixed it.

Keep in mind that the code has to be 'cleared' from the memory.
You can either clear it yourself "manually", or keep driving it, and the code will clear itself eventually, if the problem is fixed.

Aha..... That would explain the code, then.

The only other obvious thing, would be a wiring problem, most likely at the connector itself.

I would start by checking the connector itself, make sure they are not saturated with oil or that the terminals themselves got damaged.....also check the wires going to and from those sensors.

Good luck, and keep us posted.
