FAIL = limp mode crap.

got the sensor in car idles fine but wont revv past like 2500 rpm, now im getting a P0344-CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR INTERMITTENT

did a quick search and it could be caused by the Crank sensor.. i dont know what to do now.. wich sensor to get, well im going to pop the camshaft sensor off since is the easiet and see if it appears to be ok. umm but its weird because for few minutes the car was fine and i able to do about 3 great pulls till like 5k RPM wich i then would slow down.

Why if you're getting a camshaft position sensor code would you touch the crankshaft sensor? It could be the magnet. You're not going to see anything by taking it off.

yeah i agree, dont bother pulling it off trying to see something. Every once in a while though you'll get oil that pushes through the sensor and gets into the connection of the plug, which is easy enough to see if you unplug it.

So... the code says Cam sensor. Why are you even bothering to look at the crank sensor? REPLACE THE CAM SENSOR, it's more than likely your issue. (that or the wiring is fucked, I'd guess) Pretty simple thing, I'd think...

Or do you check for a flat tire if your car won't start?

A sensor isn't going to fix his problem.

How are you doing there Manny?

That sensor sucks, it's going to fail epically in due time. Wells sensors FTL! Mine didn't even last a week.

the problem is i fucking hate my car and i am so done working on it.

anyone wanna come get it for $1 your more than welcome. ahaha im just pissed off rite now cause not only do i got a P0344 code im also now throwing a P0300 code meaning multiple cylinder misfire.

& i said the think about the crank sensor even tho its a cam sensor thing because i did a quick search earlier and seen that some had the same problem and when the cam sensor didnt fix it they later found out it was because the crank sensor was bad and it was giving a cam code because they talk to each other just like the map sensor and TIP sensor. im still throwing that P1187 code.

done working on it for the day as i gotta head to work in a bit. tomorrow is another day. blah..

The Wells that I got has been in the car for almost 4 years. Not a ton of miles, maybe 10,000-15,000, 20,000 tops.

Did you get the wire issue sorted out yet Manny? That would be a good first step.

Wire issue you say, John? Whatever could be the problem? Was a wire inconspicuously loose somewhere in a hidden location? Something only a mechanic would have known to check perhaps?

Wells is a brand of sensor that VatoZone sells for 20 bucks instead of the Delco brand that's slightly more expensive yet has better luck.

I heard from a little bird that there was a wire going to the CPS that was cut, twisted back in place, then taped. True?

That musta been one awesome bird if it spoke to you. Huh.

Anyways so y'all think I should replace the camshaft sensor.. from advance most likely as there's is $37 + tax.

Could that also be the probem with my misfiring.. ill take the plugs out again & check em. But they are new & so was my Granatelli wires. Coil pack I know works too.

From what I heard a wire was cut going to the cam sensor. I'd say fix that properly, reset the code and see if it pops back up.

After that, if it pops back up, yes. Replace the sensor. The CAM sensor.

Manny. I think you should just replace the motor and wiring harness. That should fix your problem.

Or buy a Honda.

Did you properly fix the cut wires and reset the code yet or are you replacing the sensor before doing that?

You're lucky, mine lasted six days in my SXT before blowing the p0344 code. Replaced it with a BW and haven't had an issue since.

Manny: If you're asking people to help you and they're asking questions to try and help you, evading them isn't going to get your issue solved. If you have a cut and ghetto-twisted wire, you need to solder and heat shrink it so it's connected properly. Then reset the PCM, go for a ride and see if it's fixed. If it's not, then the magnet may in fact truly be your issue.

And yes the Cam Position Sensor will cause your multiple cylinder misfires since the car dosent know what cylinder to fire.
