Quick Exhaust Question

If a stock SRT-4 cat-back exhaust had a glasspack in place of the resonators, would it be louder or quieter than a side exit exhaust with the same size piping and the same size glsspack?

Know what I mean?

The side exit would be louder since it's shorter and has less piping. The srt rear is dual so it's not only longer, but it has twice the piping to dumb down to noise.

1gn has side exit coming out on driver side right under the door. Hollowed out cat and a little resonator.

It's definately louder then my buddy's neon with srt exhaust.

Thanks, would you say the side exits sound good, as well? I don't want it to be purely loud and sound terrible. Also, I would do a dual side exhaust, with one on each side instead of just coming out the driver's side, has anyone ever done this here? Thanks.

Side Exits usually sound like crap unless there is a huge resonator or muffler of some sort.

I was planning on riding it with a 25" CherryBomb for a while, and if it needed to be louder, getting a bit shorter one. Is this a bad idea, or would the 25" make it not sound like crap?

its just way to loud in my opinion. My SEE was just unbearable during every day driving. I hated it and I highly recommend people to go a different direction when deciding on an exhaust. You can get a bit more of an aggressive sound without killing your hearing and annoying anyone who happens to be near your car.

Not true. Plug one side of the SRT rear section, and it is quieter. I know, I did it.
The two openings equal a larger hole. Larger holes let more noise out.

The SRT may be "quieter" than a side exit, as the pipe length shapes the sound differently than just a foot or so of pipe after the muffler. Plus the total length is different for the whole system. The cabin noise is going to be louder also, since the side exit is going to make the noise the same as riding in the trunk with an SRT rear section.

Thanks. Does anyone know an easy way to do a side exit on both sides? Just use a simple Y-pipe? Also, will the 25" glasspack be too long or not long enough? I'm going for as loud as possible with with the least amount of tinny reverberations as possible.

its gonna be difficult doping a y pipe.

I wanted it a long time ago, but with me beeing low, I'd be scared to scrap it all day everyday

The 1gn scrapes like my OB and it's not lowered lol. It doesn't sound too bad, just loud.

I believe the fuel lines on the passenger side would prevent you from running dual side pipes.

Actually I think he is right. Something to do with the fuel lines/pump/tank or whatever.
