Largest possible tire...

Post by ejclide » Thu Jan 07, 2010 10:53 pm

Hey guys, I've been looking but haven't been able to find a definitive answer. What is the widest tire I can go with on my stock 15" seven spokers. I'm about to order some Firestones in the morning, but I want to get the widest possible.

Thanks for the help guys.

Depending on how much time you have to spend at the tire place, have them mount some tires and test fit them to see what clears both front and rear. Most shops will do this, as long as they are making a sale. I have only run 14" and 16" wheels, so I don't know how the 15's look for clearance. Each size is going to have it's pluses and minuses for what profile/width combo you can get away with. I am going to give a rough guess of about 215/50, but I would trust seeing it in person much more.

well I was looking at getting 195/60s, essentially the next size up width wise for my stock wheels. I'm not so worried about the sidewall aspect so much as I am what the widest tire I can fit on the wheel is

OB ran...I wanna say 205/55/15, and it looks meaty. Cleared fine. On "new" snowflakes.

I'm right in thinking the "new" snowflakes are the same width as the 7 spokes, right?

Wow, way to go Eric. I just realized they don't sell the Winterforce in 205/55 anyway. Looks like it'll be 195s! THanks for the help still guys.

You're getting winter wheels? (Yes, they are the same width) You wont necessarily want wider tires for winter. Thinner tires do best in snow.

Don't go wider with a winter tire, stay stock.
