don't need a cam gear unless you feel the need to move the power band up or down in the rpm range.

Don't forget mag valve springs or aftermarket ones. And I don't know how much hp it gives you exactly but it's a def improvement on the butt dyno. Tq is greatly improved in the midrange

oh yeah, i forgot about the springs. i only have an '01 mag. cam so i didn't upgrade my springs. yeah with a comp 400 get mag. springs...good enough for the 400 and they're relatively cheap.

Yep, it is designed to be used with oem springs. But if your mileage is getting up there, fresh springs won't hurt, and the Mag springs come with new retainers. You are looking at about $80 to $90 for new Mag springs. It is really a good deal. I doubt you could buy standard springs/retainers seperately for that. (Tho new retainers are prolly not truely necessary.)

The only pain is changing the springs. That part takes an air compressor, spring compressor, a compression tester hose with the check removed, small neelde nose pliers, and patience/perseverance.

Not recommended to use the stock springs unless you already have an R/T. Get the Magnum springs for it, (unless you want to chance going back in to replace a lot more stuff when the springs fail). I just put a comp 400 in my 02 R/T and it feels great. As previously mentioned, the tq is noticably stronger and the car seems to want to pull harder. I also installed an adjustable cam gear for future play (it's currently set at 0 degrees) and since you're in there, you might as well replace your timing belt, water pump and tensioner too.

Do you run your car above 4500rpm often?
Granted the 400 is designed for the stock rev limits unlike the #14, if you are not going to see 4500rpm or higher you are actually going to lose bottom end power on a daily driver.
Also a cam upgrade compliments all other bolt ons, so if you have not done:
UDP,60mm,CAI,Performance Exhaust etc
I don't recomend installing the cam until you do the other mods first.

The 400 will cause you to lose bottom end on a daily driver ??

When you say, 'daily driver', are you talking about an engine that is otherwise stock ??
Or one that has already had the other bolt-ons done ?? ( UPD, T/B, CAI, Header, etc.)

on a motor relatively stock and with bolt ons. The cam is designed for mid-upper rpm levels. You will notice a drastic loss of TQ below 3500rpm. So if you are looking to install this on an ATX car that's daily driven and does not see over 4500rpm often it is a waste of money.

Good to know, Thanks for the 'butt dyno', man-in-the-street review.

If the torque loss is measurable / noticable only on a dyno, then it may not even be noticable on the street, anyways.
