The 03-05 neon airbag seems to have the same shape and fitment with the SRT wheel. But are there any functional problems I should know about?
Some people have told me yes, and some have told me no. So I am confused.

I've had the stock airbag in my car with an SRT steering wheel for a year now without a problem.
They are the same thing, so no.

Any issues going from a SRT/03+ steering wheel to a 00 neon?

^ You need the 03+ clockspring as well, or modify yours. Otherwise it's fine.

Isn't the shape different between '00-'02, and '03-'05 air bags? The wheels are definitely different.

Yes, the 00-02 airbags / wheel / clocksprings are different than the 03+ and SRT airbag / wheel / clockspring.
The 03+ neon and SRT clocksprings / airbag / wheel are the same, except the SRT wheel has leather and stitchwork on it, and the neon wheel is smooth foam.

So is that a no? Or can I just take the clock spring from the srt and install it on my 00?

Tires?! WTF?
This thread is about steering wheels. When you said SRT / '03+ wheel, I thought you meant the entire wheel / bag setup. It all swaps straight over.

Haha I did mean the steering wheels my man. Tires were mentioned as a late night dummy moment, sorry. (Don't know what I was thinking.) Thanks again for the tip. I will make sure to get the whole setup for when i do the install.

For sure. Just stick with the wheel/bag combo when you do it.

im going to say it all depends on the pigtail, because when i was in electrical shop at school we were going to take a mustang air bag and put it in an explorer sport trac, it fit the steering wheel but the connection was different..

if you have cruise, the 03+ cruise switch will not work to replace the 00-02 switches.
