Mirror delete?

Post by esteinmaier » Wed Jan 13, 2010 1:42 pm

I'm in need of a passenger side mirror delete panel, and possibly a driver's side if they were made for exports. Anyone know if they exist?

Worst case scenario you could get some junkyard mirrors and make your own. Cut off the mirror and use some fiberglass to cover the hole, shouldn't be too hard.

Never heard of it. Sounds neat. Not sure how a Neon would look without mirrors, though.

I'm just trying to reduce drag. It's not exactly a normal street car.

Probably not a good idea. If perverts are chasing me, it will only serve to encourage them.

Sorry, the 2nd gen did not get mirror deletes in any market. Our cars are simply too upscale for that
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

You could make your own with a sheet of ABS plastic. Or metal, since you do know people who can weld...

Yea, I may just do little aluminum panels. That makes me sad.

 Going to Bonneville?

Removing the mirrors reminds me of the SRT-4 that was run at Bonneville. If it was a secret, you can kill me now.

Please don't smear me up with Petroleum Jelly.

haha not quite. But if it means 1/2mph in a 1/4 mile pass, it's worth it. The car no longer has an interior at all. The dash is the firewall and the gauges are mounted to the piece of aluminum that the steering column mounts to. The rear deck is gone. It's not gonna be a car I'll drive to work every day.

I was thinking that making a set out of thin sheet metal would be pretty easy.

I saw the interior before it lost the dash. I was IN the car before it lost the dash. It frightened me before it lost the dash.

I also slow the car down by almost 3 seconds in the 1/4 mile...

Don't forget to take a hole saw and put holes in the rear bumper to reduce drag.

Is that really what that is for? If so, these guys that drive around in these lowered Honda Civic's around here that have these long, metal plates across the entire rear of their bumpers with holes in them have just failed even harder in my book.

If no 2GN Neons had mirror deletes, did the Cirrus, Stratus, Concorde, etc. have them? If so, would one from these models fit a Neon? Just thinking...

Correct.... 1st gen vs.2nd gen mirrors are different, they won't interchange.

Erik, I'd just try to fabricate something using the sawed-off base of a stock mirror, carefully glue a sheet of plastic over the hole, sand it well & paint it..... If it's done right, I bet it would look factory.

Well, it reduces drag, AND it also SAVES WEIGHT !! :D

But seriously, that increases the 'cool' factor of the vehicle, to a MoPar head like me.
It won't really make much of a difference performance-wise, but combined with all the other modifications and weight-savings, it helps add up.....

Chrysler did this too, ^ from the factory..... Try reading up on the 1965 Dodge Coronet factory (lightweight) Super Stock cars, with only 2 headlights instead of 4 (to save weight, etc.) :D
Some really, really, sick and twisted MoPars.
