Assist Handles Question

Post by He Hate Me » Mon Jan 18, 2010 4:03 pm

So I recently aquired a non-sunroof headliner with assist handles aka (OH SH!T). I have all the handles and the white things that they screw into. I am having a problem though. How do I go about mounting those white things into the frame? All I have behind them is a rectangular sized hole, so the screw that would mount them into the frame will just go to nothing and dangle.

I was looking at this picture: Image And see that there is the metal looking things that could possibly go into the holes I'm talking about so the white things can screw into the frame. Is there a part number for those metal things or does anyone know where I can get them?

Thanks

There is. Part #4775742AB...MSRP $7.60 each.

From what I can tell, they are the same clips used to attach the visor clips and the coat hook. You can see the same clip in the pic you posted near the sunroof module.

*Edit* You were too fast  But the new part # is the AB level.

Geez :( It's a $7 minimum yard fee at my Junkyard, and they'd probably give me these for free, so I guess I'll just go back there. Gotta get that wiring harness for that Compass/Temperature Rear View Mirror I picked up, which is also not cheap for that harness IRC

Thanks again Danteneon!

My rule is that if it can fall into your pocket or tool box at the junkyard, then that's where it should go.

Not to sound like a total thief, but whenever I've brought clips and such up to the cashier, they look at me like WTF. Then they spend forever trying to figure out what to charge me for them. Usually, when I'm buying a more substantial part along with them, they tell me to just toss 'em in my box. I figure I'm just saving them the work ;)

Most JYs here are messican, and when I walk up with headlight bolts and shit, they just say "you take you take." From there on out, I started letting things fit where they should. Ask others. It happens. $7 there could buy you plenty!

Yes, removing them SUCKS.:(

You might ruin the first one or two, until you get the hang of it.

Some of them (depending on their location and how easy/difficult it is to get to them) are easier to remove than the others.

Try getting the clips off the A-pillars. Those suck too. One-way fasteners FTL.

Like everyones been saying, when I bring it up to the front desk they give me a wierd look, and than TRY to find a price for it, when it isn't even marked.

Caraudioholic24: Lol, I'm sorry mang, it was def. a lucky find, found it in a loaded SE.

To get those metal clips outs, should I bring a pair of pliers? Or would a screwdriver be best??'

Thanks for the input everyone!
