02 Neon - Cluster & Tail Light Issue **

Post by Fiustudent2008 » Tue Jan 19, 2010 10:12 pm

Hello, if anyone can please help

I have an 2002 dodge neon - my cluster light & tail lights do not always come on when I turn them on. Sometimes I can be driving and they will come on all of a sudden and then shut off again. Its not a fuse and I checked the tail light connections and they are fine.

Thanks you guys

Take apart the steering colum, a couple screws on bottom, and look at the multi function switch. Pull the plug out of the back of the assembly and check for a burnt plastic plug. It is common for these plugs to become melted causing the pins to touch each other and cause the symptoms you have described.

actually that sounds like the fuse on the inside of the dash for parking lamps. I know because when my fuse was out I didn't have glowing gauges or lit tail lamps when driving at night.

A fuse wouldn't cause the lights to come on when they weren't even turned on. It could possibly the stalk is worn or a burnt connector.
