Gauge Cluster modification service: Any COLOR you like!

Post by wiggyx » Tue Jan 26, 2010 12:09 am

*** I can now do ANY color you like for the cluster and HVAC inserts! ***

Hey guys and gals, I've been asked over and over if I'll provide the cluster color change mod as a service, so now I am  Here's the thread that outlines the process...

HOW-TO: RED interior lighting: The real deal!

This service will be provided in one of two ways:

1) You send your cluster in and I will mod it (in about 3 days turnaround time) and ship it back.

2)
You send me a deposit (75.00) plus payment, I ship out a pre-modded cluster and then you ship back your OEM parts and I refund your deposit (I prefer this method).

What is included with the service?

New clear or any other color HVAC knob inserts (2 small, 2 large), (4) Neo Wedge bulbs (3 for HVAC area, 1 for defrost switch), and of course the modification to the cluster itself (some colors require LED lighting. PM me if for pricing with LEDs).

The price is $85 shipped to the lower 48 for the complete service (not including colors that require LEDs).
If you only need the cluster, just the HVAC inserts, or whatever, I can give you a revised quote. Just pm me. FYI, most of the labor is tied up in the cluster, thus most of the cost is applied to it.

Many folks that I've talked to did the mods themselves, but didn't want to go through the trouble of making the HVAC knobs. HVAC knob inserts alone are $10 shipped.

These snap right in like the OEM parts

LED upgrades (required for certain colors such as White, Violet, and Pink, but can be added to any color for enhanced brightness!):

1) Matrix-style bulbs - $18.00

2) SMD tower bulbs - $36 (FAR superior to the Matrix bulbs!)

*** I have three SRT clusters in service so far as well as one black faced Automatic trans Neon cluster and two white faced 120mph speedo Neon clusters. PM me for an estimated timeframe for delivery if interested. A $5 deposit will net you a spot in line. My paypal address - wiggyx@sbcglobal.net ***

Thanks for looking guys and gals!

- I know 2 of the SRT clusters are at 68K, not sure about the others. I'll check later if you'd like. What are you interested in? A non-SRT cluster, or an SRT cluster?

- The green cluster doesn't require LEDs, so it's just the normal price (75 for the cluster alone). Would you also want the HVAC inserts too? I can easily do them in matching green.

- Thank you, sir

It's 75, plus your cluster. Basically, the mod costs 75 bucks. If you want to send your cluster, that's all it will cost ya'. If you want to use the swap method, then I take a 75 dollar deposit (to cover the cost of the cluster) which is fully refunded when your stock cluster comes back to me.

If you want HVAC inserts and additional non-LED HVAC lighting (i.e. red or green o whatever colored bulbs) then it's 10 bucks more

More people are going to want to send you their cluster for you to mod, because they aren't going to want to lose their mileage.

I can't emphasize enough that YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOUR CURRENT MILEAGE! The mileage of the clusters that I have only matters if you plan on switching up from an SXT/RT cluster to an SRT cluster since you can't just swap the PC boards.

You swap the PC board and that's all there is to it. The only folks who are going to end up with different mileage are the ones who switch up. I.e. Those who go from an SXT cluster to an SRT.

85 total shipped back to you. Turnaround is usually 3-4 days, depending on how busy I am

No need to be  It's good that you asked so that I could clarify. That's the question that I get asked the most. I just made it so bold so that it wouldn't go unoticed, that's all.

I'm definitely feeling the white... Suxs that your needle project didn't good... I thinking clear needles that light up blue would be killer with the white...

I'll have to remember bout this once I finish up some of my projects..

The needles are WAAAY more trouble than they're worth right now. I've made two decent sets and they require so much work after coming out of the mold. I'm gonna put them on the back burner for now and focus on getting the retro parts done first. There's a far greater market for the retro parts versus the needles anyways.

I'm gonna install one of the sets that came out OK and see how they do over the next few months. Then, when I'm done with the retro parts I'll look into making some more molds that will (hopefully) make it easier for me to pull consistently good quality parts.

On a side note, I finally made a red lighting HVAC overlay. It's a pretty serious amount of work, but it's doable.

Any color?
So could you do silver?
Would it be okay to drive the car without a cluster for a while?
I could just use my AeroForce scan guage for info.

I do the lighting, not the face. Is that what you're talking about? I mean, there's no such thing as "silver" lighting. I can do white like the pic up top.

Update ladies and gents! My fellow SRT vendor (ND4SPD) and I have started a relationship with an LED supplier which means cheaper prices for everyone! I'll post up prices as soon as he and I work out the details
