When I was driving it home, I could hear the glass cracking more and more.

The only thing holding it together is the plastic laminante on the inside.

New glass is going in monday..

I will also be spending months getting glass out of my rear seat after they take this thing out because once they touch it, its going to really shatter into pieces.

I'm pretty sure that three elements at once caused this to happen to this extreme.

The small chips from the welding.

The speakers being so bassy (if thats a word..)

And the drastic change in temperature we had yesterday night.

Unfortunetaly the 272 dollars has to come from somewhere and that just happens to be my paint and bodywork fund. So unless I make some extra cash, I may not be painting the car until after I get to Ohio.

Not much noteable progress has happened in the last week...

I have been working on finally finishing my wheels, which are almost done and playing with my mag parts.

The intake mani has been ported! The runners on the bottom of the upper peice have been ported 1mm larger and are currently being polished. The inlet for the mag intake is also ported, its roughly 53-54mm.

The aem intake I bought from hybridsrt, has gotten a patch welded on it from the spot where is rubbed the inner fender well and is almost ready for PC. Same goes for the mag valve cover..

The upper piece for the mag mani is now rid of all the casting marks and is currently finished in 180 grit, now the fun begins on that...

Today, I worked out my passenger side quarter panel dent, since I got tired of looking at it.

I have learned to hate working on body lines.. Its such a PITA!
I got everything else done perfectly but when I got to the body line I started having issues. Being where the dent was located, it had created a slight ripple in the body line, I was able to work out most of it but some still remained.. I got it looking ok after an hour of fiddling around, but It is by no means done. I will finish it up tomorrow seeing as I have devised a new strategy to conquer that dent.. I will also be removing a couple more dents tomorrow which won't require me grinding and filling.. yay!

I also have some updated pictures:

Note the new window.

It'll look good again one day soon...

Update 5/26

Since my last post a couple things have been done...

I bought bux tails and installed them (they do work).
Finished the 4 srt wheels (5th is a week away)
Finished up the dent on the quarter panel.
Bought a couple small parts (odds and ends)

Today I finished up my injen intake that I painted yesterday.
As you can see is came out pretty fresh and almost perfectly matches the faded salsa red.

^ first time using omni clear and wow I must say for the price, their clear is awesome.

I will be going away for college in the 2nd week of july and I have so many things to complete.

Heres the stuff that I will be doing in the next week:

Finish the 5th srt wheel
finish polishing the mag intake mani
Paint the valve cover
Paint my motor mounts ( if they come in on time)
Remove a couple more dents
Buy the drivers side fender

In the following week:
Finish the body work and prep the car for paint.
Buy the paint

mid/ late june

Paint the car
Buy motor mount inserts

Late june plans:

Replace timing belt, tensioner and water pump + all seals on that side of the engine.

Replace all serperentine balts with new ones

Sand and buff car ( if needed)

Possible plans before I go away:
Get the rpm switch to make the mag mani functional.
Mpx underdrive pully
Paint engine bay
buy new speakers for the doors
Tint the new rear glass

I got a couple other things done today.

I removed my windshield wiper arms to get all the corrosion of them.

I used a wire wheel on the dremel to remove all the corrosion and paint near the corroded area and then primed it. along with some semi gloss black paint, specifically rustoleom hammered black finish, it matches the black plastic texture and color very nicely.
Before:

After:

I also primed my injector cover today,

Image

The injector cover and the valve cover will both bet getting sprayed salsa red tomorrow, so pics up that night..

I sanded down my dent in the quarter panel today with 400 grit and revealed an almost perfect body line.

It has a slight ripple, But I will work that out tomorrow.

Image

I also thought it be a good idea to throw up some pics of the mag mani.

The ports have been ported ans smoothed slightly, and the upper piece is on track to be polsihed it is currently finished in 160 grit.

Image

the inlet (slight portage 1mm to 2mm)

In addition to the things stated above, tomorrow I will be removing all the dents minus the massive one on the rear door and sanding down the area were the molding used to be to remove all the bubbled paint.

So basically I'm doubling the amount of primered areas on my car..

I didn't get the opportunity to make any headway on my dents.

But, thats doesn't mean That I didn't do anything today.

I painted the injector cover and the valve cover earlier.

Image

Image

I'm really wondering how low the paint will hold up, Its kinda tempirary until I can afford to get it powder coated. ( if I ever do)

The letters will have the color sanded off revealing a polished finish.

I also started to polish the upper piece of the mag mani, its currently finished in 1200 grit.
(sorry no pics yet)

I also just picked up a new drivers side fender from keystone (F* yeah 60 bucks)

Image

Tomorrow,

I will be prepping the fender, polishing the 5th srt wheel and the mag mani.

Possibly installing the magnum manifold along with the painted CAI.

I got all my magnum goodies installed today.

It took awhile but I got it done through the rain and the sun...

Earlier Today:

The Valve cover got installed, with new gaskets of course.

I flushed my coolant system

I removed the plastic intake manifold and replaced it with a ported magnum piece (all new gaskets).

Installed my fleshly painted Injen CAI tubing.

Installed the injector cover (its not finished yet)

I was going to install the booger bushings but I ran out of time.

Even with the secondaries not working yet I can feel more power mid to upper range (3.5k- redline)

I cannot wait to hook those secondaries up which should be before the 4th of july.

Heres the pictures:

Earlier today I did a ton of work on my car...

The massive dent on my drivers side rear door is now completely gone along with the dents on my driver side quarter panel.

The whole trunk got sanded to remove the deep scratches and a small dent in the center of it.

I have very few dents left to take care of before the car starts to begin being prepped for paint.

The car will be painted with 1.5 Gallons of omni basecoat ( Going to get extra because I have plans)

1 gallon of ppg Vibrance clearcoat

All getting sprayed with my new top of the line sata spray gun, with some luck no dirt will get in my paint and I won't have to sand and buff.

Anyways heres some updated pictures of the ugly beast.

If all goes to plan, the car will be prepped for paint on the 21st and the car will be painted on the 22nd on june. Everything except the hood and the front bumper until I get to ohio and get my new ones.

I also got the booger bushings installed today.

As with everyone else, I only had a quarter of the original bushing left and the cable just basically pushed and pulled the lever to engage reverse.

Overall an awesome mod, It defineatly stiffened up the shifts and even made them smoother, I highly recommend them.

Thanks.

Theres an 01 r/t bumper just waiting for me to go buy it, (haha locations a secret)

The rear bumper is going to get some exhaust tip holes eventually, so I can tuck the exhaust system up more, making is less noticeable.
I will never part with the vibrant muffler it sounds too good.

Well this was the week the car was supposed to get painted.

Its not going to happen, in the next coming months.

The day after I painted my fender and ordered the 1.5 gallons of paint, the booth shit the bed. thankfully they didn't mix up the apint yet when I called them, so I didn't have to buy it.

The belt came off and ended up shredding one of the output fan blades, and damaged the duct work. yeah that booths gunna be out for awhile.... I also just recieved word That I will have to make some decent sized payments every month while i'm in college..
So I won't be buying the paint and other materials until I get a job down there and decided what I'm going to do to the car.

It will definately get apinted but Idk when now.

I kind of think of this as a good thing... I will have all my body panels together this time and everything will be sprayed at the same time so I would get a 100% color match.

Anyways I have been doing some stuff to the car in the past week.

I changed the oil, and replaced the oil pressure switch, That was painfully fun....

I bought a quart of omni primer to basically prime the whole rear half of the car, I should be doing that tomorrow.
Also got some upol #8 acid etch primer because I don't trust my compressor ( builds up water droplets fast)

I installed my new fender which has some oem salsa red on it.. Looks red compared to my faded color..

I installed some prothane motor mount inserts in my painted upper and lower mounts. I was going to do the tranny inserts but they didn't fit.

This mourning I got my bent wheel swapped out with my last srt wheel that I did, yay no more bent wheels.

I also painted my calipers on the drivers side. the other side is basically the same it just doesn't have high heat clear on it.

Some pics.

Lok at the difference 10 years of fading makes...

newer motor mounts color matched
