2 quick questions and hopefully 2 quick answers

Post by 05sxt » Tue Feb 02, 2010 12:30 pm

Ok I hope someone can get back to me relatively quickly on these as I have searched this site and Google as well for four hours with not much success. Here goes:

Question 1: What's the easiest way to determine if my 05 SXT has ABS or not? Is there a specific letter/code in the door jamb plate or something else I can check relatively easily to determine this?

Question 2: What size socket do I need to remove the FRONT PASSENGER side axle nut? I've gotten responses anywhere from 30mm to 39mm and I need to know before I go drop $10 on a socket.

Thanks in advance to any helpers out there.

Fronts are 32mm. Your right demon. The ABS module should be attached to the master cylinder I think. I'm not sure what it looks like though.

blueneo03 - thanks for the tip however I don't think that would work for me right now. Since I have a bad front wheel bearing, I'm trying my best to drive as "defensively" (read: slow) as possible.

I'll give the master cylinder a look tonight when I get home and see what I can see. Thanks,

If you have rear disc brakes from the factory, then you have ABS. The only way to get rear disc brakes on a 2gn is to have ABS. And the only way to have ABS is to have rear disc brakes.

ahhh yes. veddy good kemo sabi. I have rear drums, ergo I do not have ABS. Thanks for the clarification.

And the general consensus seems to be that 2GN's have 32mm axlenuts in front and 30mm in rear. Got it. Kthanksbye

The fact that ZERO 2005 SXT's came with ABS would have been the simplest answer thus far.

OB - you, sir, are a genius. The best answer so far.

Jenni - I might be wrong but I could've sworn I've seen an ABS indicator light up on my guages when starting the car. But then again, I don't pay much attention to that so I am probably wrong.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe all Neons have the ABS light in the cluster. It would have been to costly to have different clusters made for all the different options.

Slamming on the brakes is usually the sure fire way to find out. You can also check for the ABS relay in the engine bay fuse box.
