If I remember correctly the 420a is the 2.0 DOHC, same one used with mitsubishi.

The 420A is the Mitsu engine. The blocks are the same but the cylinder heads are reverse.

On the neon the intake is one the front and exhaust is by the firewall.

On the Mitsu the intake is by the firewall and the exhaust is on the front.

so if its the same block.. then technically the heads should bolt up, right?

n then i guess my answer is yes to 420a to be picked for my megasquirt? lol

I guess. But I would think a lot of the sensors and PCM is different. But dont take my word, I honestly dont know the slightest thing about MS. I dont want to steer you in the wrong direction. However the is an entire sub section dedicated to MS/tunning on 2gn. I would go there and look around.

I just know that Neon engines are NOT 420a. We have a different code and Im not sure what it is because im lazy. :lol:

*edit* Fount it! The SOHC Non Magnum is the A588.

Both the 420a and all variations of the neon engine use a hall crank sensor and wasted spark ignition. Based on that, any megasquirt configured properly for one will work on the other.

ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

And judging by Glasswars project log this is one of the greatest persons you can have on MS/Turbo support.

The 2.0L SOHC engine in all second gen Neons is deemed the A588. The Magnum version gets the sub-name ECH, while the DOHC 2.0L has the sub-name ECC.

The 2.4L SRT-4 turbo engine code is A855.

I think that about covers it. Obviously there are multiple iterations of the engines above, but the base head and block designs are the same throughout.

Also, the 420a is a DOHC engine. The mitsu version of the 420a was changed it to accomidate the 4g63 and V6 engine setups on the eclipse/avenger chassis, which saved money on the production line for them. The head on the mitsu version is actually a nice piece, I think it was lotus that did the design work on it.

Standard 2.0 is ECB

EJD = 1.6

EBD = 1.8

There are so many different codes used internally for them, I call them SOHC and DOHC. It's much easier for me to keep track.
