refinishing the dash.

Post by swordsailor » Tue Feb 09, 2010 2:25 pm

The thin rubber coating is starting to peel off of my dash board just above the instrument panel. Does anyone know how to reapply the rubber coating?

Or do you have any suggestions for other cool ways of refinishing the dash? How would carbon fiber look?

Thanks!

Well you could strip it all down and apply interior paint to match the rest of your interior. CF would look good to IMO. I knew a guy who had a CF top dash, paid a pretty penny for one. Can't remember the company that did it though. YOu could wrap it with a fabric, Suede, etc. there are plenty of options out there.

i'd say remove the dash pad, sand that rubber junk off and spray it flat black or something. You are talking about the underside right?

I believe that finish is what's known as "soft touch". It can be applied like a paint, but it's super expensive. I'd go with fabric or something like others have already recommended.
