Teh wifes beater

Well I left Germany last week and we sold the wife's 02 Jetta 1.8t wagon. So we were looking for a suitable replacement thats a bit bigger. I wanted to keep it in the Mopar family. I don't think we did too bad ;)

Drove to Akron from Cincinnati to pick it up. Its stage 1 with 47k on it. Rare 5 speed as well. Only option I can tell that its missing is the block heater :tardbang: Its even got the Mopar sub installed aftermarket. Anyone familiar with trailer wiring? :D Its got a class I hitch on it and from what I'm reading it can tow up to 3800lbs with a Class II hitch or higher...... which sounds about the same as an SRT with trailer ;)

On a basic 4 way connector this is the wiring youll want to follow.

The Green wire on the trailer harness connects to the Right turn signal

The yellow on the trailer harness connects to the left turn signal.

White is the ground.

And Brown is for the running lights.

All you have to do is splice into the tail light harness (right before the bulb works) accordingly.

http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx

BTW I hope your not planning to tow the SRT with the Class 1 hitch. Class 1 is rated at 2000lb tow weight and even a Class 2 that you mentioned is 3500lbs tow weight with a max tongue weight of 300lbs.

The SRT weighs 3000 Lbs by itself (2900 technically but 100lb adds up quick with after market parts, and any boxes or items in the car itself, the weight of gas in the tank. etc). and a typical car dolly weighs 750lbs. Putting you at 3750lbs total weight. 250lbs OVER the class 2 max rating.

http://www.uhaul.com/hitches/glossary/

Just throwing that out there.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. It should be fun to tinker with. I just wish it weren't so damned heavy.

The wiring looks pretty straight forward. I just wasn't sure what I'd need for a connector. After reading around it looks like the flat 4 is the way to go and get adpaters from there. I can always upgrade according to whatever trailer I get.

Youll need to get one of those adapters for the wiring, as the PTs have separate turn signals and brake lights, and 4-flat trailers dont. You can get them at most any auto parts store, or Uhaul store. Just wire it up yourself, dont let anyone who works for Uhaul touch your wiring, unless you like blown fuses and vehicle fires.

Oh no no..... I'll do it all myself. I've been installing car audio for nearly 15 years now. If I'm good enough to work on Ken Griffey Jr's cars then I think I can handle some trailer wiring *LOL* Just wasn't sure what to get. Thanks for the heads up though!

Its fun to tool around in. Especially when you go scootin off somewhere at mach 1. People are really fooled because they think all PTs are slow.

There's a couple of complaints about it. It has the complete feel of an SRT minus the handling. Try throwing this thing around and you are liable to end up in a ditch.... But my complaints are:

The exhaust is too quiet. If you are standing right next to the muffler.... yeah you can tell its got the 2.4 in it. But I'm wondering if I can't adapt an SRT rear section to it... HMMMMMM

The sunvisor hangs too low. When you are driving and you've got the visor down you can't get it up out of the way enough to feel comfortable.

Other than that its a real fun car to drive. 2nd gear is worthless though *LOL*

I just installed my front strut tower bar tonight.... It made a HUGE difference... Night and day. You can pick up a non turbo strut bar, you just have to modify the selenoid bracket. I got mine on ebay 20 bucks shipped.(apc)

I hated the antenna too. I bought a 6" one.

I really REALLY want to get the PTeezer rollpan now that I've seen it. Damn thing is stupid expensive though. :(

Other than that there's a bunch of interior chrome trims that I'd like to get to spice up the inside a bit. Maybe yank the muffler off the thing *LOL*

That's my plan in the spring....just get a pipe bent and a tip welded on. Getting rid of that muffler.

Looks nice, I like the sleeper look, just leave the body alone and make it handle and drive better!

Gonna move this over to O/T media for you too.

Oh thanks for moving it to the place where it belongs :tardbang: I figured since it was built on the Neon platform and carried the SRT motor that it was 2gn related.

Jvilla.... if you ever wanna get rid of those wheels let me know. I'd much rather have those than these fans.

I think that was a very broad definition of being "built on the neon platform". The only things that will swap are the LCA's out, wheels, and the drive line. The crossmember is different, the body, and rear suspension. There may be some interior parts that swap?

The BMW e30 and z3 share the same platform and nearly zero parts will swap. Whats your point? The PT was designed based off the original Neon layout. If more parts swapped over would you feel comfortable leaving my post where it was? *LOL*

Well, I had nothing to do with moving your post. My post was more of a general statement, not necessarily defending Canada's decision to move it. I like both "versions" of the platform, so no hatting here.

And how much would you pay for said wheels?

I wanna find some srt stockers, or acr bbs wheels. I'm not a fan of chrome...although they do look nice.

I'm currently talking to a guy in Cali about bartering a trade for a set of the 5 spoke chromies. He'll be getting my 20's, doing some work for me and giving me some cash.

I wouldn't mind throwing a set of SRT stockers on it. I don't care what SRTforums thinks *LOL* They can eat my ass with a spoon.

here is a great example of how a pt can pull of the srt stockers.
