eBay Backbox

Post by nerox » Sat Feb 13, 2010 6:46 pm

anyone bought one of these?

how do they compare to a standard R/T backbox, will it be the same or will it give the exhaust a nice tone?

Doubt it will sound the same as r/t exhaust. Maybe similiar.

Backbox? English for exhaust or something?

I think it's slang for "rear-section" or "axle-back".

I also don't know what "backbox" is..

but I think the exhaust I got off e-bay is pretty much exactly the same thing...Except I paid $159.00

here's a video of the sound.... I also have a short ram intake that adds to the sound.

Thanks.

Just seen magnaflow do a catback system for $650 plus probably about another $650 shipping.

the "Backbox" is the box at the back of the exhaust system, the last piece before it hits the outside, The only other thing we might call it is a silencer but 99% of the time its a backbox

Some people have such a hard time accepting that people from other countries call things different names.

Will the magnaflow system fit an R/T?

all the sites i've seen that sell it say "fits neon without rear swaybar"

i'm sure mine has a rear swaybar ... that big rusty pole across the back, right?

Correct.

Some exhaust sytems were initially developed off a base neon that didn't have a swaybar, so they bent the pipe where the bar goes. I may be wrong, but they prolly corrected this by now, as they would have lost a lot of sales. The backbox, or muffler should fit, just the pipe would hit the swaybar.

You will have to wait for someone to chime in to be sure tho.

Muff/box, it's all good.

Hey dude, I bought the Magnaflow cat back system for my neon R/T... It doesnt fit UK cars at all!

Had to get an exhaust shop chop it alot to make it fit. Was worth it for the sound but not the £600 it ended up costing in total.

Since then I have aquired a tig welder and any exhaust jobs I need will be done by myself!
