What exhaust??

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

What exhaust??

Post by 2005sxt24 » Wed Feb 17, 2010 8:17 pm

I just srt swapped my car recently. Im still using the stock exhaust with r/t muffler. Id like to get something a little better flowing and louder. My only problem is i have cutouts in my bumper for the r/t muffler and the srt cutouts are different. Anybody know of an exhaust system thatd work for me, pref a 3". Or should i go side exit with maybe a spiral core muffler? Any input appreciated.

An R/T muffler would be pretty quiet with a turbo in front of it.

I vote for a custom rearsection. Say a 3" inlet "Y" into two 2" or 2.5" outlets piped to the R/T rear fascia. You could use the midpipe to tune the sound with resonators/spiral core if needed.

Tho the side exit is kind of my favorite. Being N/A personally, it is not something that would work for me. I like to hear the radio.

Mine sounds naughtiest with no exhaust, but if that's not an option, just run 3" pipe out the back. It's cheap and sounds great with boost.

I think im going to get a 3" downpipe and 3" the whole way back to the rear section. then make a 2.5" rear section so it fits in the r/t muffler cutouts. Damn i wish i didnt have those cutouts. Id go side exit for sure.

Why not buy an SRT rear fascia and roll it? Or buy a rear that doesn't have the cutouts. Someone would probably trade you too.

I could do that.. I was trying to keep my body panels if i could, i bet OB is a hard color to match. I originally thought id be fine with the r/t muffler but its just not doing it and i want to upgrade. My rear lip couldn't possibly be rolled?
